:D

bro i have only two polks

but now i have some extra money so i thought why not sell them and have velodyne for thumping bass

Manu, for the kind of bass you are looking for, I am afraid none of these subs may make you happy. Why don't you look at the kind of subs they use in discotheques with a matching amplifier?

Look at something like LM-S from OHM LM-SUB Loudspeaker. If you can audition some such speaker in Chandigarh it will be nice. Look for shops that equipe professional places such as restaurants and discos. Some of these subs can go upto 1000 watts.

Cheers

dear manu4panjab,

of the three, i have heard only velodyne impact 12.

this is a reasonably accurate subwoofer, adequate for music, but especially suited for movies - but the system i heard had magnesium cone left and right floorstanders, and that is probably why, for music, it did not seem to go with the rest of the system.

I have seen good reviews for this subwoofer:)

best of luck - selling your polks and buying the velodynes!:clapping:

Dude, for 1,30,000, you can get two HSU VTF-3 MK3. delivered to your house, including the shipping and custom duties.

As suggested earlier - your first investment should be getting rid of HTIB receiver and get more powerful one.....in fact think of pre power one ..

adding many subwoofers only ives you uneven bass ...........
Or buy any OLD 7 channel receiver with pre outs and 7 channels in..
and attach 7 channel power amp or 7 monoblocks ........too much complications .......but again too much basss

Or as you owe Blu-Ray player ( PS3) think of very powerful receiver with modern sound decoding ( DTS HD & DD True HD) - as these are uncompressed you may expereince better sound....

And my last suggestion - Numbers are misleading ....do not blindly go on specifications ....in fact read some reviews are misleading too..and form your opinion only after audition!

is it possible
do i get propelry shipped at my house or there's chance of lost

right now i have 150000 rupees spare for my home theatre needs :eek:hyeah:

I am also looking for a sub in the same range as Impact 12. Impact 12 is available for 28K. I am also considering another sub from Polk, DSW PRO 600 (12") which costs 27K. Which one is the best for both movies and music? Is there any other good sub in this range? Please help. This is pending for a long time and i am not able to decide.

manu,

I have had a pleasure of Owning SVS, HSU, Velodyne DD18 and now I am on Jl Audio Fathom F113

The first 2 are ID companies and to certain extent less technology driven, but make no mistake really powerful and good bass production. if you have money then I would advice you to go for SVS PB13 Ultra which is around $1600 and probably cost you around $500 for shipping and customs, which makes its only $2100 door to door. therefore, it will still be way cheaper then your budget and give you much much better extension and bass then HSU or even velodyne DD12 (not 15 or 18). also, if you can up your budget to around 200,000 then JL audio fathom sub will blow them apart in terms of ease finesse and bass quality with raw power of 2,500 RMS. SVS is also 750 RMS and believe me when its says 750 that means equal to velodyne 1000 RMS. these 2 subs go down below 20hz at approx 90 to 95 db. from 20 to above it range between 100 to 115db which is pretty much equal to what you get in disco theque may be a bit less but believe me not too much difference.

so my advice would be spend once and spend well. I can 200% assure you that you will not be dissapointed. once you get to hear these 2 subs or any of velo 15 or 18 then you will start saying that now you have a subwoofer, and earlier subs you had with no disrespect were peanuts in comparison.

good luck!

swatantra

Go for SVS PB-13 Ultra it will blow JL Audio out of water because according to craigsub's ranking SVS is far ahead of JL Audio. If you choose SVS PC-13 Ultra shipping cost will get reduced because it weighs less weight + custom duty will reduce cos price is quite less than PB-13 Ultra. Else go for MFW-15 they're great VFM. Think twice choose wise. After all choosing JL Audio is also wise if you would not consider money.

madhu,

you are giving your opinion based on a guy called Craig well it think you should also look at the test results by Ikka who is famous for doing test round for all kind of subs. I am not saying SVS is not good but believe me saying it will blow away JL fathom f113 is overstatement in a big way. also, you need to look at Jl comes with calibration and also way smaller then SVS and goes for similar extension at higher SPL where SVS don't do. so please advice based on experience and after through research. I have used both and can tell you exact difference. The SVS is great for movies but lacks the speed and trasient response for music where Jl excels.

my advice if you want to save money with god performance then go for SVS otherwise Jl is way better to look at and easy to calibrate and charm to look and listen to. the bass is different to SVS trust me and can also do search on various forums.

swatantra

I have been using polk Audio DSW Pro 600 since last 8 months and I am more than satisfied with its performance in Movies. This was an upgrade from Wharfedale Sw 150 so the differrence is more than 100% due to the power increase and size. For the Music I do not use my sub as I listen to my music in Pure direct mode and my Tower speakers are capable enough to produce quality bass. But even if I switch to the stereo mode with the sub usage it blends well with the setup, otherwise its more of a movie sub than music.

hey brothers

please don't mind i just want your opinion on these subwoofers

today i wnet to my local music store and there the owner have two polk dsw pro 600 and i can tell you wow they sound really really cool than my two polk psw 125

as most of you know now i have 150000

can i opt. for two polk dsw pro 600(as i like them today when i heard them) and marantz 8002 av receiver price is near about one lac (coz i have still old onkyo 5100 htib receiver ) so total will be near about 150000 :)

please suggest this time i really want to spend my money wisely
i'm not gonna do anything in rush this time coz i have learned lesson form polk psw 125

A total revamp is not really a bad idea. With your passion for slam, try the Onkyo, Yamaha and Pioneer avrs. They usually excel in the dynamics needed for movies and games.

I believe that Polk dealer had got you in his clutches:) Explore more, polk is not the last word in HT. Certainly not the one for sub-woofers!

Invest wisely in a good quality dedicated sub like qoolss mentioned. Just browse thru your own threads regarding your quest for subs. One common point you will notice is that, more or less, all of us advised you to replace the numerous subs you currently have with specialist models from REL, Velodyne, SVS, JL Audio, BK, HSU, Sunfire etc. You can never go wrong with their products.

Cheers.

The SVS ultra is a monster sub and is a no brainer if you consider VFM.

The JL Fathom is a no brainer if you have the money and looking for one of the best subs money can buy. If you ask me i would go for a SVS cos i think vfm is very important to me, but a JL sub will give you endless bragging rights plus equivalent or better controlled tight bass.

what is your room size. if its in a living area, include the attached open dining, kitchen etc. Also provide the ceiling height. First you need to decide what size sub is appropriate for you. In a small room, if u put svs ultra or f113 etc, its probably going to blow your walls away.

Also what is your usage. If you just want it for movies and/or games, then a boombox like polk should be fine, but it will suck at music. If you dont care about music, a klipsch might actually give you more pleasure than these great musical subs. If you like music also, then go for a good sub.

You can order hsu vtf3-mk3 from 20north. I requested and got the quote for vtf-2 mk3, and it was around 52k including shipping and customs, so I guess you might be able to get vtf3 for around 65-70k. You can send an email to them and get a quote. BTW, I got a quote of around 58k for vtf-2 from HSU directly, prices include shipping and customs.
