I'm sorry but I have to disagree about the DD 5.1 audio. I think the audio quality pf the 'IPL 2011' channel on TataSky HD, is actually quite atrocious for a DD 5.1 audio feed. First of all, it is not 5.1 audio and is the typically TataSky level of technically challenged audio, ie. some wierd pseudo 5.1 mix with all the sound, including vocals, coming from all channels. To make matters worse, the vocals are quite subdued and the volume heavily tilted to the rear channels. Sadly, SunDirect HD is not providing a DD audio feed. But even then, the stereo audio feed from SunDirect HD is far superior to the pseudo 5.1 DD audio feed from TataSky. The SunDirect HD audio feed has proper channel separation and the mix too is logical, with the vocals coming primarily from the center channel with a little from the front left and right channles also. The rear channels do not have any vocals and have only the ambient crowd sounds.

Sanjay - sound is FAR SUPERIOR to Star Cricket HD and if you reduce the volume of rear channels to match with what I have, you would hear the sound coming from front speakers (if not just center). That can help in Nat Geo HD as well. My volume levels are fixed at 0db for all channels while my Main LR speakers have max sensitivity. This works for me for all the DD/DTS content I watch without more emphasis on rear speakers even if some content has more rear sound. Hope this helps.

EDIT: I spoke too early. I agree Sanjay, seems IPL is also in stereo and TS is doing their "engineering" to convert to DD5.1 which I REALLY HATE if they really are doing this like some programs of Discovery HD and Star Cricket HD.

Did you get it now? They have uploaded EPG as well now, so should work for you as well.

I think you can do through the hidden menu, however did you try restarting the STB?

Try 0000 I don't get such prompt on my TS+HD box. Better call customer care, ask for immediately escalate to the technical department and tell them that you would not keep the call until you get the channel (it has helped me before though I had to be on call for an hour!).

They are still refreshing the EPG every few mins probably for the issue you are facing - there might be many more (seems they had issues starting the channel in the evening - they named Star Plus HD as Max HD before finally changing it back to Star Plus HD and adding a separate channel That points to a goofup they might have done from their end while in hurry to start the uplink)

Yes kittu all the hd channels has 5.1 dolby digital except dd sports.

No 5.1 sound for the IPL on my SunDtH. Only stereo. It is free with the HD box though.
Is there anyone here who actually paid for the WC HD in Sun?

Seems MAX HD is broadcasting the matches in stereo only, TS seems to be ADULTERATING by converting to DD5.1!

Weird..even my friends living a block away facing the issue..have been told that a tech rep will visit and fix the issue..do you know how the channel scan works in tata sky hd?any one?

my issue got fixed..seems to be an issue with the smart card..the techie swapped the card with his temp card bingo it worked..esclate the issue and ask for a techie to visit ur place..it might be an issue with smart card

Of course its upscaled if logo is that way!

Its quite interesting to note that some of us wants to KNOW whether the channels they are watching are SD, REAL HD or FAKE HD. Identity crisis?

I dont think it's upscalled as there is a lot diffencer in pic quality between sd version and HD version of set Max and the HD very is true 16:9 trasmission

Alok - Its certainly NOT upscaled (as indicated, I was kidding while replying to rajat60 as he wants us to confirm that due to logo placement )

However after TS logo on the channel, the PQ has got significantly reduced since yesterday especially during motion scenes, crowd and full stadium views. Infact I saw heavy pixellation on some of the complex scenes which was better yesterday. This shows TS might have been time constrained yesterday to RECOMPRESS the Video and hence we might have got original Video from MAX without adulteration. Its a bad strategy of TS to put the logo on their broadcast and recompress the Video instead of adding Logo from STB like what Dish TV does.
