39 so far, and we may need to call it closed for now unless someone drops out.. I was talking to Rajesh this evening about the meeting in Chennai and he said there were about 15 participants from the exhibitors. If we are now looking at around 55-/+, Anutone's location will be inadequate and we need to consider a commercial venue(hotel) which can provide us three listening rooms of about 17-18 seats per room, with adequate parking, and a decent rate for lunch. We will also have to have a cover charge, to bridge the gap between what the sponsors bring in and what we will end up spending.

If anyone has any thoughts or connections w.r.t a good location please share.

There are quite a few relatively decent hotels in Whitefield area which may not blow our pocket. Such as Aloft, then a hotel in front of SAP (Veg!) etc. Which is the preferred location for most folks?

Experience tells me that generally some people drop out for some reason or another-often things out of their control, so hopefully we can fit you in.It also depends on a good central venue-Whitefield doesnt fall into a "central" category unfortunately. I think locations around Residency Road, Richmond Road, Hotel Atria,Indiranagar.etc are easy for people to reach.

If anyone has any connections to any hotel that can give us a good rate, please let us know. It is also possible that to make good arrangements, if needed, we may take a little longer-i.e. date may be postponed by a week or so- since the numbers are now significantly larger than originally envisaged.

OK Guys here's the situation:

Santhosh,John Antony and I have taken the initiative so far(remember all three of us went and auditioned most of the stuff at Chennai already), and we felt it would in the interests of the audio community here in Bangalore to also audition what we heard recently.

Accordingly we have identified the exhibitors and are in the process of working out the sponsorship arrangements. What we do know is that we will get some funding from the exbitors but we will need to pitch in the rest by charging a few from the people who actually attend. Accordingly we will shortly take this off list and only send emails to the people who indicate their interest in participating with an entry fee-at Chennai the charge was Rs 300 per head IIRC, we will try to also aim for something similar on a cost coverage basis.

What we do need now is one or two more people who can help in getting this off the ground-please do not put the entire thing on the three of us who have already auditioned most of what is coming. Unless we work as a team it may put too much on us, and if any of us has to travel( local or overseas) or some work related commitment comes up then things will come to a complete halt.

Santhosh and I have discussed specific areas where we need help-identifying some possible venues which are reasonably central and which serve good food, venues which have rooms of around 15 X 25 feet which can accommodate 15-18 people in theatre style seating, someone who can help in collecting the funds into his account and the like, Santhosh will elaborate a bit more on this.

Volunteers please step up and help!

TIA

If the effort in organizing the event with many auditions and rooms is too much for us to handle, we may look at a simpler Plan B option. Once that is worked out in more detail, hopefully over the weekend we will communicate more.

Agree with George. Considering the number of participants (both vendors and enthusiasts), we may not be able to conduct this meet in Anutone's venue. If we are to organise the meet in a hotel similar to our friends in Chennai and Mumbai, it is going to require a collaborative effort. Given the current bandwidth of George, John and myself, we may not be able to pull this off without more volunteers.

We are receiving constant support from other friends in Chennai but we need local help mainly in identifying hotels with conference rooms, enquiring availability and pricing. Our requirement is as below:
1) Hotel should have two conference rooms of around 15 ft x 30ft and one slightly larger room
2) Location should be central so participants from across the city are not inconvenienced
3) Ample Parking space
4) Good Food

We had mentioned meet date as Sunday, 28 April but at that time we did not have as many commercial members/vendors interested. So, as things stand today, either the date or scale of the event may change or both. Watch this space.

Gents - In bangalore we have quite a few clubs like Century Club, Bowring Club, KSBA, KSCA Etc and they do have quite a few big halls. And they are not expensive at all and the food as well (Central, ample parking available, Excellent Food Etc).

We may have Club members on this forum.

Just my thoughts...

Record Player:

I am a member of two of the best clubs in Bangalore, unfortunately these clubs specifically prohibit "business" events-like ours will be-since we have commercial vendors. Second on Sundays they have large numbers of members coming for various activities, so they generally won't rent any of their halls unless it is for an evening function.

Hotels or other low cost halls or Anutone are our only options.

I agree. I am a member of 3 clubs as well and I think weekends in particular will be difficult.

However, let me have a quick check and get back and maybe other options as well.
