I finally got the PSB image T6 delivered (the same day!). Now hunting for right amplifiers, CD player etc (pre-owned if possible).

I may put my month-old SR5006 up for sale.

When you put 5006 on sale I would like to buy it. Hope you bought it in a group buy from HiFimart. May I know the reason for selling SR5006 are they are not capable for driving PSB Image T6.

Part - III

Mini party cum audition late evening at runenigma's pad

Denon 1611 + HK 5.1 (room Size 11 x 20)

Watch a action scene from Matrix.

Although the 1611 is pretty decent and powerful enough for a 11x20 room. The HK 5.1 was a let down, Bass was a weak point.
Source PS3

I would blame it on 2 aspects.
1. Ruenigma - is not a HT buff and it was not calibrated
2. The Subwoofer does not have what it takes to fill the room with LF slam

Ruengima - Stereo Rig / s

Speakers
Paradigm Titans
Paradigm Mini Monitors
PSB B1
(Speaker Stand - soundfoundations)

Amplifiers & Source
NAD 315
NAD 326
Denon Integrated
Cambridge Audio 540C
Maverick Audio
HRT

By this time the beer already started flowing and was pretty close to 10pm and I had to make a haste retreat.
Auditioned runenigma gear earlier and the wife's persistent calls made me call it a night

Spot on with the HKTS9 Flash. There were a few reasons behind picking up the particular unit.
0. Couldn't care less about HT
1. I wanted a non-ported sub.
2. The budget was fixed at sub 30k
3. It was a spur of the moment buy ;) (Well you knew it, its for everyone else)

Hi Kratos,

Any plan to try your Yamaha-671 AVR with Kef Q300 or the Focal chorus 706 for audition's?
Your AVR sounded wonderful with focal 726. I would be interested if you are going to audition it with Focal 706/716.
Or have you already decided on speakers?

Flash,

Any idea which(any other brand) speaker may sound better with Yamaha-671? Would Yamaha-671 suffice for B&W 685?

Hey Sub#

I'm planning to audition aviano 6 this Friday eve,yet not decided. In case this materializes then I will update & you can plan to join at Melody,KP.

I'm looking for FS so probably will not audition the KEF & Focals. My budget has been slashed to 45K for these.Rest I'll plonk in some good CDP,cables and a centre.

I again spoke to Soundscape for BA A360 & Focals for take home prices. For the demo pieces Focals: 74K & BA:45K

Focals are out of budget now,but seriously looking at BA 360 given their price point ,Hifimart have them for 40K so its a best deal.Lets see how Aviano 6 audition goes.

Yes it would suffice but with Yamaha 671 & B&W synergy would be an issue.
Stick to brighter speakers aka KEF, Paradigm and the likes.

Again synergy would be subjective on the basis of your ears. Our FM Kittu was not too happy with the 667 and Paradigm and found it too bright, However he is content with Marantz / Paradigm synergy

However at our listening demo at soundscape the Bright Focals as well as KEF sounded quite nice and not bright and fatiguing

I am interested in evaluating the CD player separately. (Did we hear magnat speakers via the DAC initially? It never sounded good anyway).

Vikoma,
Could you let me know the instrument CD/track which we used for audition?
Is it available on Flipcart?

Good Choice on the BA 360. However listen to other loudspeakers as well in your price range.

Wharfedale 9.5 is a commendable speaker and sounds way better than the 10 series to my ears. the 9.6 is even better however finding a pair would be a little difficult

Give Paradigm Monitor 7's and 9 a go as well

@Flash' boutique auditorium in Kondhwa, ;) ably assisted by some uber cool (hot?) amplification.

Well Well!
I would probably not risk entering his den, else I would be the first one to file for bankruptcy ahead of the global banks :ohyeah:

Where can I audition them (Wharf 9.5/9.6) in Pune?
Thanks

Aquarius at East Street next to Victory Cinema
They have Wharf, Klipsch, Paradigm, Quad, Genelec

Sound Factor also on East Street
has Dali , Def Tech, JBL Studio etc

Eh...... look who's talking .....
People talk about buying their first DAC, You've got 4 or 5 and more on the way.
Folks are deciding on their first Amp . You've got 3 .

U wanna trade pl;aces with me :ohyeah:

You are welcome anytime . And trust me I have down to earth priced equipment. So no bankruptcy

AQUARIUS @ east street................might not have all the wharf diamond 9 series, please check before visiting. Last I checked which was about a month back they had the diam 10.4 and 9.2, if I remember correctly.

.........

I am out of town this weekend, But Do let us know how your Aviano audition goes.

@Flash
KEF was not fatiguing, but not detailed either.
Lets see what 'combo' Kratos like.

Absolutely with the Yamaha 671 it was definitely not fatiguing.
Detailing could have also been due to the AVR .... I guess with a Stereo Integrated from the likes of Marantz, etc.
The overall sound sonic experience could have been different.

However when compared to Focal there was a perceivable difference in detailing using the same AVR.

Another aspect what we all overlooked was that the KEF Q500 was placed pretty close to each other compared to Focal, Boston and as a result we could not gauge the scale of instrument separation.

In the near future I will carry my amps and give KEF Q500 a go again

Would like to see what Kratos finally settles with .

I like the fact that he is taking the effort and time to audition speakers without making any hasty decision :clapping::clapping:

MS Aviano 6 & Mission MHT FS Audition

Had a brief speaker audition at Melody,Pune this afternoon.Speakers auditioned:

MS Aviano 6
Mission MHT series FS

Melody has a pretty small demo room with low ceiling. He had Marantz Amp but I insisted on using my AVR.
Gears used: Pioneer BDP,Yamaha V671 AVR.Tracks played:

1. Instruments
2. Kehna he kya from movie Bombay
3. SOme Angrezi stuff which I dint noted

Started with Mission MHT FS.It sounded very harsh to me.Very Very bright to my taste.I could not bear it for more than 3-4 mins.

Then switched to Avianos.Wow what a difference! Vocals were very clear,Bass was tight, instrument separation very good.It got a very broad soundstage.

After listening to it for 5 mins I told the the guy to switch off the center channel as I'm planning to go only for the FS.To my surprise there was no center channel.I double checked & yes there was no center channel. The center sound image or whatever it is called was just terrific. I changed my position from center to extreme corner but it sounded same & musical.
Yes it was a treated demo room but credit must also go to the Avianos...Although speaker placement was not ideal as the there was very little space (hardly 5-6") from the side & back walls but still they just sounded beautiful.
For stereo listening ,they produce sufficient bass. The flute & drums sounded very concert like.Altogether I was floored by them.:clapping:

Coming to prices Avianos MRP :44K best price 42.5K, Mission MHT 5.1 speaker package: 42K

The owner says due to Rs weakening the prices have been revised by 10%,not sure if this is true. One of our FM haisaikat got the same set at around 38K so there must be some more room for hard bargaining.
I also enquired about the Avaino 5.1 package, which costs 100K.He also carries Jamo & Magnat but then I was not interested.

At the end of the day I was very tempted to pull the trigger on the Avianos but then somehow sanity prevailed;Had some water, thanked the owner & headed home.

I had Aviano 2 which has excellent soundstage and imaging while running AVR on Stereo mode i always felt sound is coming from the Center speaker.
What was the model of Marantz Amp ?
