I bought the LG PA 70G from FRYS.COM for 400 US $ US Shipping Free and got it to Pune for another 110 US$ for shipping and customs.
Placed order on 19 DEC and delivered to me in Pune on 24 Dec 2012.
Total expense about Rs. 28000 including the octroi.
Keep hitting the site and one day they will have sale again.
The projector is amazing.

Congratz..

So how's the experience? Have u faced any focus issues?
This model is notorious for its uneven focus (refer AVS forum).
Mine had, and was able to fix it upto 95 percent (had to open it up and adjust the zoom-lens holding screws, still upper left corner is a bit out of focus :( ).

If ppl who are planing to buy this as a monitor replacement (ie lot of texts involved), advised not to. Because out of the box, fonts will be blurry and it annoyed me very much (will annoy u too, i guess).

For movies, its real fun!!

Now it is functioning as a monitor for my vaio, projected on to plain wall @ ~80 inches.

I got this one in October for 2700AED from UAE (PA70G + DVD 5.1 System + 60-80" Pulldown screen [screen and 5.1 system is still at uae]).

prosenjit Will be posting some pictures in few days. little busy on office front.

ausyz my model is December 2012 and no issues of focus at all. thank god and touch wood.

In general I am happy with the buy and great for watching all the HD channels and 1080 P movies is what I can assure

LG PA70G - HDMI not working

May be am the first one to have this problem with PA70G.

Connectivity : Sony VAIO/Nvidia GT230M -> HDMI 1.3 -> PA70G

Last week while watching a movie the signal dropped a couple of times, screen goes blank and resumes within a second or so. Then the next day, it didn't pick up signals through HDMI completely. I thought it was due to the 4 year old HDMI cable, that i was using. So continued using projector via VGA port.

Then this monday, i connected my VAIO to 32" LG LCD using the same HDMI cable (that i thought faulty) and it worked - triggering horrors in my mind.

So i contacted LG 24x7 Support 1800-180-9999 and i prompted to the 'audio/tv' section ( i didn't hear any option for 'projector') and the guy picked up. He asked when was the product purchased and i replied last October. Then came the reply, that it is out of warranty as projector comes with only 90 days/500 usage hours warranty (is this true?). Then he collected my address and said will arrange an engineer to visit, and that will costs INR 1200 + 12% tax. I was not amused by this.. and asked other alternatives - like i take it to a service center. Then he gave me this number - 9447488101 and i ended the call.

I called that number and subjected my query to him. The first thing he asked was 'Is this an imported one?'. I said yes. (i bought it from dubai). He continued - this model is not yet in indian market, and such issues with HDMI usually clears after a re installation of software. He said the software is available in driver download section of LG web site, and normally users are able to re install firmware by themselves. He also provided contact number of a service center, am yet to try it.

So Now:
1. This projector has only 90 days / 500 hours warranty?
2. International warranty applicable for LG projectors?

3. I failed to find any download links to the firmware file, or instructions for firmware updates. Also the user manual has nothing mentioned about a possible firmware update.

4. LG site don't have any Service Centers listed for 'Projectors' in kerala. The nearest place i found is Coimbatore/TN.

5. The source code of the projector firmware is available in the following web page. But i don't know how much that will be useful.
https://wws.lg.com/global/support/o...tegoryId=CAT00000005&osCategoryId=CAT00000008

So what are my options?.. please guide me.

Thanks,
Ausy.

Any Luck with the problem.?
Have you tried using any other HDMI device with the projector?
I checked on the warranty,it says 2 years for parts and labour and 90 days for user replaceable parts/lamps. Since the LED lamp isn't user replaceable it is covered for 2 years but i don't think the lg comes with any international warranty.
I was also thinking of buying one,its 43k with bill.Confused if i should import it.

Re: LG PA70G - HDMI not working

Between how to update the firmware with this code?
Its surprising to see you got free support in india for UAE bought projector. I'm also seriously considering to buy one

It is better not to order any stuff now given the price. Also 1000Lumen LED projector from LG is about to arrive by 1st week of Oct13.

Definitely its not the best time to buy. Wait to get better benefits.

Acer K335 is already launched and available atleast end of last month. But as per what I found the spec, its quite average. Also check Optoma ML1000

thanks for the info 007india, i was not aware of that.
when i checked with a Acer auth dealer, he said it is not yet available in india :)

surely availability of 1000lm LED PJs will bring down the price for 500/700lm pjs, but not sure the stock will be available by then, as the manufacturers will stop supplying previous models asa new is brought out....

In India, its a cartel. Even there is a new model, dealers will say its not available as they want to flush the old stocks out. I have seen the trend for different products. Dealers have a lot of control over product availability.

Even I was waiting to buy this projector (PA75U)

good, Acer K335 (1000lm) is also about to launch in india soon, so better wait few weeks.

However the link shared by 0007india the price would be 67k+, not in my budget:sad:
I am planning to settle for Acer h5370bd which is around 40k or x1320wh for 34k.... both are lamp based pjs.

what ever be the brand you buy, make sure it has got a min WXGA resolution and enough throw distance.

For Ex, if a projector rated with a throw distance of 10feetmax, then its effective distance is little above 6feet. check projector central website for the actual data. 2nd thing is make sure it has HDMI and USB input.

I'm also in process of buying a projector if its affordable. Buying a projector in india is an expensive affair. I hope with 1000lumens model to be launched by oct1st week, the other model prices have to be reduced by end of next month. Anyway not sure.

Best would be buying it from frys website when prices are reduced during promotion sale as done by another FM. We need to watch amazon, frys, ebay and newegg almost everyday. If you have some friends in abroad, then get it through them.

But the problem with getting it from US is you will not get any warranty....and I am not sure if after spending 40-50k i would like to take chance....there are many ppl who have reported issues with LG focus and had returned their PJ....
i think we might have to settle down with PA70G only :(

focus issue is an alignment problem. Initially there was a sale from fry's where they sold the PA70G for 499USD which almost the entire batch has this problem. If I go for LG PA70G then I may consider the same in india. But the PA75U has wifi which is where I'm inclined to.

The prices from deltapage is much better than the dealer price and its an indian warranty.
