Mauro's "Myreference Rev.C" building queries and guide.

What should be the awg of the signal wires ? The ones in the pic look too thick.

LinuxGuru, Can you post some pictures of your amplifier ?

For the power cables as well as speaker cables (+/-), just about any 5A multicore cable will do, including stock speaker-wire (Rs.12 to Rs.20/metre).

The line cables can be twisted-pair or shielded audio cables, and they're not usually very thick.

My amp is very crude-looking at the moment, compared to Quad's - his may be considered to be the reference construction.

Hi all,
Here is schematics for wiring connection for the amp.

Nice work, Hiten. The wiring diagram is correct, as far as I can see. You may want to make the voltage on the transformer consistent with the voltage at the wiring block, i.e. either 24-0-24 or 25-0-25 at both places.

Sorry, my mistake Linuxguru. Will correct the schematic and post soon. I think I have 48 hours to edit the post so will wait if any other mistakes are noticed.
On funnier note... A straight wire with 1v gain from 24v to 25v. An audiophile's dream come true.

Hmm use a 20 rupee cable to speaker out terminal, then a 2000 rupee speaker cable from terminal to speaker ..... I would suggest use a scissors and chop your very expensive speaker cables to use in the amp guys! :ohyeah:  snip! snip!

:clapping: The big boys probably use much worse inside theirs.

Hi everyone,
have posted final connection schematic.
@quad : Thanks. conn6 looks good to me.

As this is my frst DIY. I have opted for vfm kit. Later I can modify to improve SQ of this amp. One can use silver wires, gold plated sockets, attenuators etc. if they have high end setup.

A gold plated chassis with dancing lights would be nice ... :)

Yes, mere sight of gold produces neurochemicals in brains which increases blood flow to temporal lobes which increases ones ability to hear vast sound spectrum.

I want to use a common Trafo for the F5 and the GC. the pass labs doc says

"The power supply of the tested amplifier is +/-24 volts and should be rated at 6 amps continuous duty, and more than 10 amps peak per channel"

Is this talking about PSU rectification circuit or the Trafo itself? In either case if I get a 24-0-24 6A Trafo will it it work with GC safely, considering GC requires 5A? I am thinking of housing in an external enclosure with IEC sockets.

Does the miracle Trafo touch 10amps peak ? Or Delta? How do I ensure The trafo I get is capable of this?

Thanks
