Hi,

I am starting this thread for all Tata Sky HD owners who are waiting impatiently for movies now to be aired in Tata Sky . What we hear that Sun TV HD has already started relaying this. I called up Tata Sky but didn't get any positive reply. Hence starting this thread so that we can track the status here.

Thanks,
Arun

What a shame.. TS not carrying this HD channel I mean...while TS service has been decent so far, if this situation continues.. we can do a en-mass sw/over to SUN maybe.

BTW whats the review of SUN HD pq and audio quality from Movies NOW. .. is it real DD/DTS5.1 and is the pq genuine 720p/1080i?

I guess that Tata Sky being part of the group that owns Star Movies would want the Star Movies HD to be launched before they launch a rival's HD channel.

I have hathway connection....and have been watching it for last 1 week...9 to 11 pm movies are blockbuster movies....PQ is really good on my 32" tv...reminded me of my times in US....can't comment on larger TVs...same for SQ as I do not have complete 5.1 set....subtitles are on...short breaks/commericals....so far so good.

..Sorry for TS HD owners:indifferent14:

You can read my views on the audio/video quality here --> http://www.hifivision.com/digital-cable-dth/14872-movies-now-channel-sun-hd.html#post205364

Do keep in mind the audio/video quality can vary immensely, from movie to movie. For example, currently 'Speed' is playing on 'Movies Now' and besides the fact that it is being shown in pan & scanned 16:9 aspect ratio (cropped from the original 2.35:1), the picture quality is actually quite bad, specially for HD. On the other hand, the picture quality of 'X-Men' was very good albeit with the same cropped, pan & scanned 16:9 aspect ratio.

The audio quality too varies, but more importantly is totally spoilt due to the very excessive volume levels that 'Movies Now' is using by default, specially during the promos/advertisments.

There is more than one thing that Movies Now has done right. With the consumer luxury market on the boom, the time and stage was ready for Hollywood in HD, the channels primary USP of giving its picture and audio quality conscious audience an added incentive to tune in. Secondly, Movies Now chose to first set foot in the six metros and then expand to the one million plus markets, leaving the DTH medium for a future date, a strategy which appears to have worked in their favour.

Movies Now debuts with a bang

there r more ads (shampoo, soap, automobile) in movies now in initial stage itself.........
i dono wat they will do after covering the whole market....
may be we may watch movies in between ads i suppose......lol

I use SUN HD & the clarity is just amazing in MOVIES NOW..

For example, they telecasted "BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA", for an old movie i could just say WOW..:ohyeah:

Their clarity rivaled my Blu-ray player but they could do better on the sound dept, no major complaints but it gets too loud during some points:eek:

how much does sun direct cost for a single hd channel some guys say it is rs 100 per channel is it true .And also can anyone explain to me the packages/plans for sun direct hd their website info is vague and outdated with lot of the channels missing.

Currently they are not charging for hd channels,3140 is the initial amount ,it include 2 months subscription.for metro pack they charge around 320 rs per month there on in the case we dont change the plan ,metro pack includes all english channels except sports ....
They got sports package for 100/month ,
Ten cricket wont come under sports pack which costs 50 ...
If ur going for value pack it cost 1120 for 6 months and the language of our own preference,no english movie, sports channels covers under this scheme...
Hope I covered everything...
