Globally many forum suggest the use of Multiple subs . can be shared .
Placement ,settings etc.
This thread should benefit the members who looking to do multiple /dual subs.

I have been using dual identical subs for HT & stereo, and it is has been very good experience..

I use them in front corners of the room (Beside L & R speakers), since my room layout didn't allow front & back orientation..

Is it necessary to use identical subs always?

Not necessary, but dual identical is better is from what i have read..

Can I mix two brands?

Sure.. But manual EQ might not be as easy as identical ones..

You already have Audyssey XT32, that has Sub EQ HT built-in, which is capable of EQ'ing two different subs..
