Hi all,
I'm confused with 2 home theater setup for my HTS. The following is my 2 packages,

1.
Denon X1400
Pioneer SP-FS52 Floor-standing
Pioneer SP-C22 Center-Channel
Pioneer SP-BS22-LR Bookshelf
BIC America F12 Subwoofer

2.
ONKYO HT-S9800THX 7.2 AVR with 7.1 SPEAKERS Both THX Certified

The second one is Onkyo 7.1 package there is no recent reviews about this product.
The first one will cost around 20K more than the Onkyo. Both have 12 inch subwoofer.
Can someone provide me a comparison to select one of the above ?
Is it worth spending 20K more for the first ?
Thanks in advance.

I would not go with the Denon X1400...instead would look at a Marantz AVR....NR series or SR series...

Onkyo THX seems inviting...check online which model / year and I am sure we have specialised threads with reviews available for Denon / Marantz / Taga / Onkyo....

Thank you efernand for the response. I'm very much interested in Marantz but its costly when compared to Denon 1400.

I would suggest you audition and decide....Marantz AVRs are more warm and musically inclined...they do a neat job for HT and even gaming...its worth....depending on connectivity and features you will use, hunt for that AVR....no point buying the most latest model when you will not use 40 to 50% of its features...for example...I use a SR6008 Marantz...I am happy with its features and decoding..the latest model is SR6012...which has more features which I will never use....

Latest models cost more....you can hunt a specific model which serves your purpose....

If you will be spending close to 100K INR, then it is best to go separates than HTIB..

What would be your max budget for AVR & speakers ?..

If we go for Denon AVR and then buy separate speakers. What could be the descent budget for speakers. I dont want to put much money in speakers say approx. 30 k. Is it possible.

I was looking for 50K:50K for AVR and Speakers. Anyway I went with the first option, as you suggest, with some slight changes. :)
Thanks for the interest.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I finally went with the first option with some slight changes and it sounds superb.
The Package follows,

Denon X2400H
Pioneer SP-FS52 Floor-standing
Pioneer SP-C22 Center-Channel
Boston Acoustics A 25 Bookshelf
BIC America F12 Subwoofer

You will get 5.1 package for < 30K. Even Denon itself has speaker package options.

If you dont mind can you pl share your experience on Denon X2400H, i too am looking to upgrade from Denon 2113 to this model ? Also if you dont mind sharing the cost incurred for this AVR

Can we upgrade to 7.1 later if we have budget, I mean its not necessary if all the speakers are from same manufacturer.

Hi,

You can get the AVR of your choice and invest in speakers slowly....there are many brands and models...all depends on how much you want to spend, what type of speakers you want and what performance you like....

Ideal speakers are the ones which can deliver all or maximum frequencies between 20hz and 20khz......many brands like Taga or Polks, Boston Acoustics, BIC America, Jamo, etc. etc are out there....

Speakers is the final and end part of the system which delivers the sound or performance and has to be to your satisfaction and bliss...

You can initially invest in 2 speakers for front and slowly build up your system with center, surrounds, sub etc. etc.

See Hifimart, HTstore, Proaudiohome, Jamsticks, Sayhifi.com and many other sites for rates and models....

Audition is important, please carry your music or favourite movie clip and demo all types of speakers that interest you....use the same content for different speakers which will help as a reference for shortlisting and deciding.....

If budget is a challenge and if you are open to pre owned stuff...see hifiads.com or olx or For Sale by owner....sometimes you really get good gear for affordable / reasonable rates

All the best

Upgrade means a lot, If you mean just increasing the number of speakers, yes its possible. But that may not improve the sound quality. You should check the specifications of the driver including the diameter. If you want such a future proof speaker package I think you should spend 50k+ for a 5.1.
Even you can consider my package which is also entry level. :)
