Optoma HD66 vs HD700X

Hi all, I have been planning to buy a projector and have almost zeroed in on HD 66 from US. And then I realized that there is this HD700X which has some minor differences than HD66. Could you guys please guide me if this would be a good bet to go for.

On Amazon,
HD 66 - $641.09
HD700X - $414.29.

I could notice that the differences are HD 66 is 4000:1 contrast ratio with 2500 lumens whereas HD700X is 3000:1 with 1300 lumens.

I am dying to order from ICC.

Try Getting the Optoma HD67 it is released and available in Singapore local shops and UK(AMAZON)
Optoma hd67 has maximum resolution of 1920x1080
whereas Optoma HD66 has maximum resolution of 1600x1200 Pixels but Optoma HD65 is having Maximum of 1920X1080 Pixels

Optoma HD66 Compress the 1080P picture and displays it

So as far as my knowledge get Optoma HD65/67 and not HD66

However, 67 is 1800 lumens whereas 66 is 2500 lumens.

Prithvi, I dont see Optoma HD 67 as a Full HD Projector. The Amazon UK site also says its a 1280 x 720 projector.
However, 67 is 1800 lumens whereas 66 is 2500 lumens.

Optoma HD67 is not a Full HD projector but i told it has a maximum resolution of 1920X1080
optoma hd66 has maximum resolution of 1600X1200
it receives the 1080p and it decompresses the picture
whereas optoma hd65/67 display 1080p without compression (Correct me if i am wrong i read it projectorcentral.com)

And even i read 3D is only for gaming and not to movies

even i would be buying a Optoma hd65 or 67 in near coming days and not hd66

You are going to put optoma hd66 in a dark room and brightness is not much important

i think boderlinx is cheaper getting approximately 38K not exact duty


and total of 34400 is inclusive of 5KG you have to pay more if it exceeds 5kg yo will only know later

Prithivi, how did you know that it was 38K from borderlinx. Can you let me know? Also about the HD67, AFAIK, its the same as HD66. HD 66 is for US whereas HD67 is for Asia Pacific and there is no difference in the resoultions.

I think I want to switch gears here and order the Optoma HD700X. I cant seem to find a proper comparison between HD 700X and HD 66. The price difference is $ 220.

Guys, I need an advice here, please....

I can't believe that Im in the same boat as you are,i was planning intially to buy optoma hd66 from amazon,until i saw 700x,which has 1300lumens as to hd66 2500 and since 700x projector is older than hd66 then the price difference, honestly its a tough call but extra lumens of hd66 makes it great for day time viewing,but again for $400 720p and 120inch!!! man its a deal buddy,you wont go wrong with either,but i think i ll go with hd66 and please check if u have the Rainbow effect as its common with Dlp Projectors and the only reso that matters is NATIVE

in that the lowest price is 640$ with speakrs and backpack

then go to borderlinx.com and select cost calculator
then give the required fields such that weight dimensions etc
you get one price that is the estimated cost

but in borderlinx you have to pay a farex charge of Rs1000 for INR TO USdollar money conversion and you need a citibank card

:sad: I need somebody to guide me through this and let me decide on few things. I can manage a fairly low light in my room in the daytimes as well. I need some of you to guide me through this and the best option to buy this from. Borderlinx, I head has these hidden costs that are going to get onto me apart from what I see in the total cost calculator.

Prithvi - I did confirm that with them and that is the final price - Rs. 40,832.
The difference between HD700x and HD 66 is around Rs. 15,000.

HD 700x - Rs 25,920
HD66 - Rs. 40,832

I Asked my friend he told me that we can go for 700xfor movie and it is not worse
optoma hd65 is having 1600brightness and 4000contrast ration which can be used even for day light
and optoma hd700x is having 1300 lumens and 3000 contrast ratio which is going to be used in dark light which woould be good only
and even also price consult is only 26000 after discount

I am kind of not still sure which one I want to go with. I am just waiting to order one of them from the last 3 days...
HD66 is a newer model and has got 2500 lumens and 4000:1 contrast ratio.
This being my first projector buy, I am going to take a decision.
Also, the HD66 seems to have a longer bulb life.
The Amazon link for HD700X has wrong info at the bottom in the product details section about the lumens and contrast ratio as well.

yeah even i saw that and 2600 lumens for HT projector is high if room is dark ! !
your eyes will pain
