Pioneer avr owners thread

Just noticed that Pioneer have some different models in the US and Europe..

Europe Lineup (| Pioneer) - VSX 531, 831, 1131, SC-LX 501, LX 701, LX 801 and LX 901

US Lineup (A/V Receivers | Pioneer Electronics USA) - VSX 531, 831, 1131, LX-101, LX-301, SC LX-501, LX-701, LX-801 and LX-901..

US has 3 more models than the Europe..

LX 59, 79, 89 are being replaced with LX 501, 701, 801, 901

For Asia think they are yet to launch the LX intermediate(LX-101, 301, 501)/ new models (LX 501, 701, 801, 901)..

LX 501 is a 7.2 AVR with Class-D amplification.. and priced around US $1,000..

How much is vsx 1131 in grey market? could you please share the details.

I bought vsx-930 for about 35k from Malaysia
Looking for some tips on what speakers to buy, planning to start with 2.1 setup

Pioneer has a huge gap in product pricing..

VSX 330 is 26K
VSX 831 is 45K, 20K jump
VSX 1131 is 62K, 17K jump
LX 501 is 112K, abt 60K jump
LX 701 is 140K, abt 38K Jump
LX 901 is 216K, abt 76K jump

If the differences between the base models is within 20K, then why a steep increase of 60 -70K in price for midrange AVR's?

They have lost the plot with regard to pricing. 26K for a basic receiver is ridiculous. Wondering if it has anything to do with the new owners, Onkyo. Their regular line up of AV receivers were once the cheapest you could buy and very good.

Just to add that there is another series 5xx between 3xx and 8xx.
9xx is between 8xx and 11xx.

This is as per their website and price shown are excluding any discount:

VSX 3xx - 26K
VSX 5xx - 36K
VSX 8xx - 48K
VSX 9xx - 66K
VSX 11xx - 68K

SC-LX 501 - 1.25K
SC-LX 701 - 1.55 K
LX 59 - 1.35K
LX 89 - 2.14K

Price of LX series looks quite high on paper but they all are class D amplifiers with all sort of capabilities like extremely good 4K upscalling, HDR, audio components, etc... So looks out of ligue of others, may be.

Recently bought AirTel internet TV box and the experience is really amazing. It's miles ahead than the TCCL HD box setup. Too many options and bluetooth remote greatly makes more sense. Selecting any channel would be a breeze (just say the channel name decently by pressing that mic button on the remote). Also, controls the entire STD by using appropriate AirTel game app.

Let me come to the actual topic. Yesterday bought Pioneer VSX-531K as my old received VSX-522K gone kaput after serving very well 5 years.

When I connected the STB HDMI to AVR HDMI IN (SAT/CBL), I hear only the Audio from the speakers and the HDMI not passing any Video through AVR. I tried to connect multiple HDMI cables/slots in the AVR. But no luck. When I connected the BD player on the same I get both AV.

Finally I connected the STB to TV directly through HDMI and used SPDIF for Audio through AVR. Though I'm really enjoying the sound output now, I don't understand why there is no Video from HDMI. Any suggestions/inputs please.

Try connecting the STB to an other input on the AVR & see if it passes the video to TV.. It could be a faulty HDMI port on the AVR too..

Thanks man! I've connected that way on all available HDMI ports no luck. But the BD player connected to the HDMI of AVR working fine in all aspects.

Currently I'm using vsx-831 and have 3.1 channel with following.
1. Central speaker - A225C Boston Acoustics
2. Font speakers (L+R) - A26 Boston Acoustics
3. Sub woofer - Taga Harmony TSW-200 (12 inch).

crossover - front speakers: small, cf - 80 hz.

Movies thumps up and Music not that much gr8, above average

Regards

I have a secondary setup with Pioneer LX 59 running with Boston acoustics A26 front,A225 and centre channel,BIC F12 sub,Yamaha NS B-40 as surround (yet to upgrade- looking for polkaudio s10) with 5.1 channel.

It rarely gets warm stil m using laptop cooler to cool down.it has class D amplifier and it shows the difference in running temp.
Satisfied with performance.

Hello, could you please reveal where you bought it from for 40k?
I am contemplating on a purchase of an avr and seems like pioneer seems to provide more features for less money than other brands.

Hi guys... I hope I'm not interrupting any other discussion! I am looking for a pioneer vsx 323 which has failed due to reasons other than a HDMI board failure so I can scavenge it for mine.. If anyone does know anyone.. Pls ping me.. We could work out a reasonable cost.. Thank you..
