Hi, i am new to audio video world and need help in selecting a good set of home theater system for my home. The area is quite big living room and dinning room are combined (Its a duplex house).
I finally researched and finalized two options: Please help me in selecting one of the following options.

Option I

Boston Acoustics A-360 pair

Boston Acoustics A-26 pair

Boston Acoustics A-225C

Boston Acoustics ASW-650

Denon AVR-2113

Option 2
Polk Audio Tsi500 pair
Polk Audio Tsi 200 pair
Polk Audio CS20
Polk Audio PSW 125
Denon AVR-2113

I will prefer Polk over Boston.Boston SW are very good, speakers not bad,but Bass is not the last word.polk can sound better to my views.

Can somebody arrange a demo of both the sets (Mumbai).....that will help me in deciding but unfortunately not many people have both the equipments. Polk Tsi 500 is better then A360 but BA A26 is better then Polk Bookshelf. No clue about Center speakers or sub.

I felt that Polk TSi series wasn't punchy. If you want to go with Polk, please try RTi series.

Just to let you know, I auditioned Polk TSi 400 and I didn't like it. Subsequently I purchased Boston A 360. The only issue with Boston is that its center (A225C) isn't as loud as A 360 and will need a little higher volume to match the other speakers.

And Boston A 360 is really good - for both music/movies.

Hi, would you say Boston A play more warm or bright? I find the Polks bright but never heard Boston A.

I have heard Boston. For movies they've been great and really have no negatives. As far as music, the mid range is extremely good. Acoustic guitar, female and male voices, and live recordings are exceptional. Most rock, rap and electronic music are good with these as well. As far as the negatives, I'd say that the highs are very laid back.

Hi, As i told i am new to the forum and really dont know about the word used" warmer". Let me explain i have a big living room and wanted my to enjoy movies and TV channels. I am not sure whether they (Home theater package) work with TV for watching channels or only work with DVD/Blue ray players. The main purpose behind me buying a home theater system is to enjoy HBO/Star movies/Disney channels etc. I download movies in blue ray format from net would love to watch them on my big TV whilst enjoying the theater sound.

Regards
Vinod

AFAIK, warm sound doesn't tire your ears even after listening for hours together. Polk TSi floorstanders has good treble and might work well with a subwoofer for movies, but they are going to be a little harsh for the music IMO.

In the case of Boston A series, I can get a full range sound (with a bit less treble) and I don't even use my subwoofer to get a sweet sound. To summarize, Polk TSi might work for the action packed hollywood movies and Boston will have an advantage when you want to listen to a mix of music and movies.

Though I haven't listened to the Boston Subwoofer, I read that they aren't that good. So, I would advise to look at a different subwoofer - if you decide to go with the Boston set of speakers.

For Boston speakers, you could try Marantz SR5007 rather than Denon 2113.

Boston SW are good for movies, punchy & fast.Yes Velodyne SW are certainly better than those.

Hi,
Thanks for clearing my doubts. I am not sure if Marantz SR5007 is OK as its on higher side for price and moreover i will not require 7.2 for next 5 years. Kids are small and need big one after 10 years.

Can anybody arrange a demo for me in Mumbai? Visited DM Audio and they dont have the items in BA listed above.

LAS VEGAS, NV, January 7, 2013 Polk Audio, the Speaker Specialists, first introduced discriminating listeners to the high-performance, high-value TSi speaker lineup in early 2008. Five years later, the beloved line is getting a complete redesign, with new curvilinear cabinet designs, improved bass, greater dynamic range improved imaging, better detail, superior sensitivityand a new name.

The revamped TSx speaker line, as its now known, will bring with it a whole host of audio improvements, including new voicing, with an emphasis on the accurate reproduction of high frequencies that is so critical to the uncompressed high-resolution of todays Blu-ray discs, as well as improved bass thanks to a shift from 5.25 drivers to new 6.5 specially formulated fibrous bilaminate substrate cones made of pulp infused special polymer compounds that improve stiffening without adding mass.

Finally i went to buy BA, the dealer said i have to waite for a month. He suggested to look at Tannoy if i want it urgently. He said Tannoy is much better then BA and Polk. What is this. ts so confusing.
