poor service from tata sky

I have been having issues with TATA Sky from time to time, mostly about their billing. Infact, at the end of Feb , after installation of the HD box, where they activated a second connection without my asking for it! now, even after I threatened them with court action, they have still not replied to me.

I did speak to a lawyer, who advised me against filing a case as there was not enough proof, and also no way to prove that they did infact receive an electronic message sent from their own (TS) web site.

TS sky billing is very insidious and clearly not transparent. For eg. on renewing my annual mega pack in January 2011, I was informed that the subscription was upto December 2011-on my protest, after several calls and emails, the date was changed to 22 Jan 2012....

I feel most us should now start writing to the Press, or if possible, get the press to do an article on all the mal practices of these DTH companies. Another alternative is to locate their HQrs and create a stir in front of their office.

every time you recharge it.. check the balance on TV and just click a photo with your cell and keep it for an year.. incase of any issue.. you can always use it as a solid proof..

also if nokia is there.. download any free call recorder app.. record the call and then you are all set... screw them..

As per the latest Supreme Court guidelines, recorded calls without the other person's consent is ILLEGAL and can not be used as a proof in court of law!!!

I have found a way out - Tell the other person during the start of the call that you are recording it and can produce as a legal proof. :)

Are you sure about that?
As I read the above sentence, the underlying statement is "anything without the other persons consent is out of law" like for example no one can force you to be a witness in court, its completely voluntary.

So then what about tapped phone recordings? or hidden spy microphone recordings or hidden spy camera footage or CCD camera footage and so on

Yes they are mostly considered "Invasion of Privacy" of other person. Hence they are USUALLY not considered as a witness unless on some exceptional circumstances.

If you recall, the phone tapping issues of 2G scam was blown big time due to invasion of privacy issue and government had to clarify that moving forward they will only record highly sensitive (like terrorist interactions) only after necessary approvals by highest authorities.

Wow! That just made all the CCD cameras and security monitoring & recording devices (and their companies) obsolete. Way to go shoplifters, anti-social elements, etc.

The CCD camera in the theft spot has all the evidence needed to send the thief behind bars, but wait.....if I produce that as a evidence, it will be me who would be behind bars, since I didn't take approval from the thief or highest babus before capturing him on camera.

Hahaha, again we can have CCD cameras in "PUBLIC" places like shops and other common areas. But if you install it SECRETLY in someone's place or in private areas like Bathrooms, its ILLEGAL, isn't it. We are talking of privacy laws which are very prominent these days. Tracking Phone calls, emails, personal data, hidden cams, etc comes in purview and you seems to have taken it to discuss "PUBLIC" CCD security equipments. Now again, if you record a CCD footage and try to create a scandal out of it, it is ILLEGAL. Hope you got it right this time :)
