The Wonders Of Online Stores

Hello Sri,

Well a congrats from you and your wagon of online buyers can prove fatal, i know you guys order every now and then, i am keeping my fingers crossed that i buy on rare basis but surely no more from a store in India, it's criminal at market place the way we customers are taken for a ride in most of the cases toward price and supplies of old models, etc. That is a another story that stores have their reasons for such ride, but at end of the day, as a customer our game is simple who gives the best on asorted counts, sure a online foreign store.

Well the delivery time is within 21 days, pictures should be very pleasing on basis of the print out of specifications which i have taken of my old and this new ordered projector. The placement issue is likely not to be a problem because you'll have guided me for a LCD instead of DLP, on the other hand i spoke to the projector lift guy he says small changes can be made if required, but if things get out of hand then maybe i will have to forget the lift and order a projector rod while the trigger matter is resolved because this new projector is having such facility, this trigger is a wonderful thing.

Hi Vinay, good to see you are preparing for arrival and installation of your projector. Hope you are covered from the hdmi cable front. Have you checked the specs of the hdmi cable to see if it does 1080p? See what version it is certified for. For eg: version 1.3b, 1.4 etc.

I have learn't the hard and practical way, that the only way to be sure of what resolution the cable will support is by actually using it. Since Vinay's existing cable is of a decent pedigree, I would not worry about it, as in most probability the cable should work fine for 1080p. In case if it does not work after connecting the projector, he can worry about replacing it then.

Warranty - Bill - HDMI

Well Santosh, i checked with SYW, they have told me that they will provide the original bill of theirs and the warranty is 2 years, but the projector has to be sent overseas, which is sure not feasible, but there could be a middle ground, which we can check from Epsons, in India.

About the HDMI cable, i appreciate yours and sanjay's suggestions, i will be able to throw some light tomorrow so that you'll can comment.

Old Projector Status

I had requested the moderator to change the name of thread, and he has obliged me.

I am being told today that with my old projector probably the mother board is not a issue and they will only come to know once the new lamp is installed, in-fact they are giving chances that the projector may just work, but the problem is that they do not have the lamp by which they can test, so this is one risk which i will have to take. I am likely to use this old projector for some other purposes.

In view to this after some time i will show the projector to some other shop, and then take a call for what i should do, but one thing now i know that santosh is right when he suggested several days ago it is better to import the lamp, and yes he is right, the original lamp is costing Rs.10,000/- with duties etc it should not be over Rs.16,000/- while the Delhi store was offering me at Rs.40,000/- all inclusive, so this is the state of loot.

I know vinay , it really feels sad when you look the costing overseas and locally, i still remember in Jan when i was planning to buy HD 20 i was shocked to find that it was costing 1.2 lks in India and only 1000$ in US.

Guess we need to get smart and work our ways around it. ...

The Loot

Well santosh, just see the power of this forum, somehow it got leaked that i bought the projector from visualapex, which was recommended by you as you have also bought from them.

I am seeing since yesterday there is so much of advertisement by visualapex at this forum, in hope that they get business and they should get after all who wants to be looted by the stores over here.

You could buy a HD-65 projector, screen, and a garland and a bottle of scotch to celebrate your purchase for this price if you chose to import!:ohyeah:

Vinay, I think it is google-ads that is intelligently posting relevant ads. Since hifivision have added google ad-sense to the site, google posts the apt advertisements for that forum or even section. Google scans the page dynamically and when it finds the word "projector", it places an advertisement of a company which specialises in projectors. Sometimes Visualapex, sometimes projectorcentral etc.

The model works something like below:
For Eg: XYZ, a projector sales company want maximum mileage from their marketing spend. They buy google's ad services, which intelligently places the ads in all the right places. According to Google's research (web monitoring tools) they find that it makes sense to have a XYZ ad on hifivision. Google tools also make decisions that there is no point for a projector company to advertise in a forum meant for cooking:). Google even advertises intellignetly based on sections in the forum - like ads from speaker companys in speaker section etc. Google shares portion of its earnings from all its ads with hifivision and everyone is happy everafter:).

That was soooo naive :)

Known is a drop. Unknown is an ocean.

No Offence meant buddy. But it is impossible for anyone to know everything. Everyone has their own interest areas. Vinay is an expert in his domain - Mutual Funds/Stocks etc while I shudder at the thought of investing in securities.

No offense taken. I know very well what I am saying.

Thanks mate. My mistake, although I knew what naive meant roughly, I looked up the meaning.....but instead of a dictionary, I used MS Word. I typed naive and looked up Synonyms. The synonyms that I got was inexperienced, immature, adolescent among others.

Due to my impatience (of dictionary.com or even google loading on the browser), I use MS Word to lookup meanings as it is open all the time on my office PC:). Always worked for me, but mislead me this time.

There is a very common problem now a days on Indian forums. No offense to anyone, but the fact is that in general, the English language comprehension skills and vocabulary of a lot of forum members is quite limited. Which in itself is a problem in communication, specially when the communication is between people who do not know each other personally. But what makes it worse, is that more often than not, when people do not understand a word or something someone says, there is a tendency to assume the word or post is negative. I myself have been a victim of this on numerous occasions, on HiFiVision and on other Indian forums too.
