Dear Jaggervm /fellow members,
Considering present update in data-sheet, we have sufficient members (14) to be busy for approx 5 hrs of audition approx. (long enough to give some people ear-fatigue). This is considering each members demo lasts for 20 mins on average (sufficient for 4 types of music, that a given combo/setup plays well).
I am budgeting approx 1 hr of additional time as equipment setup time, that will get used up during these audtions, as we connect /disconnect gear. So total time involved is 6 Hrs approx. (See bottom of this post for present status of data-sheet)
I am posting my initial thoughts on time-planning of the event as follows:
1. It should be post-lunch session starting from 1pm to end at 7pm (yes, it means you have early lunch at home then scoot of to venue), with tea + refreshments around 4pm during the auditions. (cause the lunch time may break the continuity of audition, plus organizing lunch in a community hall becomes another distraction)
2. We should try for common songs for the combos /setups that are known to be good in same genre of music. For e.g if 3 setups are known to be good in soft rock, then they should have a common song like Hotel California to be played on all of them. This would be more informative for all HFV members, cause they will know what are the subtle /dramatic differences between such setups.
3. I hope the participating members would be ok with their gear being mated with other members gear. Considering this in mind, I propose that participating member may demo his gear with entirely his own setup or mate it with other members gear, if that mixed setup is expected to sound good. (I have already expressed this under Preference heading for my gear. To reflect this concept the heading is now renamed to Preference (gear mating). Refer data-sheet image below.
4. So guys, please make entry of your preference in the data-sheet. If we have these preferences decided in advance, it will help us in scheduling setup connecting/disconnecting as we move from one setup to another.
The above are just initial thoughts; do chip in with your suggestions. Also volunteers are welcome who can help me in venue hunting.
Regds,
Sonosphere
