I guess Iam going to be the spanner in the works here. Iam sorry for that. But as a roon user for 3 years now, who is just dumping the entire SET up, and looking for a streamer that does it all. I have my reasons. A digital chain is a complete mind bugger all the time. Too much of faff, and so many areas the reviewers would like you to have believe that there is improvement you are missing on.
Ethernet regen or exotic lan switch.
Cat8 Ethernet cables that supposedly make another world of difference.
Lpsu for running the NUC and roon end point too..by the way did I forget mentioning the NAS, which needs to run on a LPSU for optimal sound quality. Too much faff that plants more doubts in your mind , than let you enjoy the music in my opinion. So Iam off this train completely. Just my 2.cents
Hi kapvin
I under stand your point. And thanks for reaching out to me. But everything I mentioned above is true, as I found in my system. Every addition of better power supplies has made a difference. And the biggest being for the network switch. I will admit I haven't tried a LPSU on my Intel nuc, which is my roon core, as I couldn't find a 19v /4A LPSU so far. Been looking for a hdplex LPSU for some time now.
Till I realized, that I suddenly had too many boxes and too many power supplies to run a chain , which was ideally designed for local library playback, which I was not using much. As Iam streaming most of the time. So I guess Iam right in saying that roon is not for folks like me.. of course if some one has a huge ripped library then maybe it makes sense as a library management tool. For absolute sound quality, audirvana pips roon every day..so folks with huge libraries, run twin pc setups. One running roon as a media server. And the other running hq player for sound quality. But anyways...All this I feel is too much of a faff for me. So I've decided to resign. It's my personal thing, nothing against any single system as such .Fondly hope yoy under stand my friend. And by the way...cat8 Ethernet cables do make a difference
