Which will only get worse with time"And the problem remains the same - utterly ridiculous and dishonest grading practices by Indian resellers."
Which fuels the vulgar prices"There are plenty of people with money to throw to the winds on a whim these days, so it just is what it is."
Couldn't agree more with you"For extended listening, definitely less fatiguing on vinyl."
Amen"just because I enjoy the tactile experience of handling a record and because I enjoy the artwork and so on"
They also brought out an LP of Pam Crain, in a live concert. People outside Calcutta probably don't know much about the Calcutta jazz scene in the 50s-60s-70s, but Pam Crain was a star of Park Street at that time. This LP was apparently first released in the 70s, from a live concert in Calcutta's Kala Mandir in 1978. The One And Only Louis Banks performed with her, as did Brad Gonsalves. The sound quality has bits of poor quality. The publisher says so on the LP cover.I would not mind owning this LP if/when it comes out. Parikrama has been a part of the Indian rock scene as far as I can remember but they never chose to release a full-length album. That does not take away from their appeal - to me they always seemed to have this kind of grandfatherly aura, watching other bands come and go! I remember going to some of their live shows.

It does. Put your bill-to and ship-to addresses in Discogs as any overseas address. Set the payment mode to Paypal. Discogs will then never know how you are actually paying on Paypal. You can try via Paypal using your Indian credit card to see if works.
I'm like that too. I have an excellent TT and several LPs, an excellent cassette deck and lots of cassettes, and an excellent CD player, ditto. I've also ripped my CDs to FLAC. The only medium I don't like is streaming, because I don't know anything about the release, the mix, etc, and also because the entire pleasure of handling physical media is gone.I'm not from the new generation, so I don't know if I quality to reply, but I am completely medium agnostic.
I have a good investment in vinyls, and it'll grow further. But cannot deny the convenience of streamer or CD. I use any of the 3 of them as per mood and convenience. Whenever it's a group listening with friends and family, it's almost always vinyl as it brings in a sense of occasion that is unmatched.
And guess what, many of my old vinyl songs are not available on streaming even.
So horses for courses.
I have used Hdfc credit cards on Paypal few years back and they were accepted. Off late Paypal is asking to update Kyc details else will freeze the account. It does. In Paypal, use your Indian credit card to pay. Axis Bank credit cards completely and totally block any attempt to pay anyone on Paypal -- they say they have too high a fraud pattern on Paypal purchases. SBI credit cards have no problem. Your bank may be in one of these two buckets, you'll never know till you buy.
On Paypal, set your actual Indian bill-to address. Paypal has no issues with Indian buyers.
Once this is done, Discogs will work happily for you.
The last question is the ship-to address. If you have a friend who can receive the goods, then set his address as the ship-to address.
Yes, KYC details are a must. This is imposed by RBI on PayPal, in exchange for letting Paypal operate in India.I have used Hdfc credit cards on Paypal few years back and they were accepted. Off late Paypal is asking to update Kyc details else will freeze the account.

If these guys had not done this reissue of that old gem, no one would. Luckily, I bought a copy. It's sold out now.
I've read Pam Crain's name in newspapers when I was a school kid. This is the first time I got to hear her voice.
