Dear Fm’s

My HT room is very silent and I hear a strong ringing noise. It’s the sound when you get a strong and tight slap. So while I pause a scene or on quiet scenes it’s highly disturbing and annoying. Has any one experienced it? Recently it’s gotten worse and I am hearing the ringing sound in every silent environment. Did my research and came across the condition tinnitus. One root cause is exposure to loud sound.

Could be a temporary condition. Take rest from the system and headphones for a week or two. And when you restart, try and keep an average of 75dB.

Confirmed that only you hear this? Checked with other members of your family too? If not, record the sound on phone and share with us. This way we can single out the root cause.

Wife says she does hear a faint noise in the HT room. That’s why I wanted to check with FM’s if they have also experienced any similar noise. I don’t think it can be recorded

I would say try recording then because phones microphone is more sensitive than our ears. Let us try.
There are times radio signals somehow manage to creep in.

Try switching off everything in your room including lights, Chargers ,Adapters,AC and all electrical and electronics appliance and try.
I had one wifi swtich which creates similar kind of noise.
Give it a try.
Possible switch off your main panel to conclude it is not coming externally.

Must be Tinnitus. I am having a similar problem. Try to listen at low volume and try to relax. If you are tense it becomes worse.

Dude don't worry, that makes your situation worse. It can happen on multiple situations. Ear infection, too much of waxing, ASOM or perforation on ear drum, block in eustation tube, allergitic rhinitis etc also cause tinnitus.

But high volume sound is certainly not good for ears.

Make a visit to good ENT specialist. Call me in case of any help

Thanks and will check with you once m done with my audio gram and MRI.

@FM’S thanks a lot for your concern, some even pinged me directly. I am overwhelmed and in my visit yesterday doctor removed a lot of wax and told that as per his observation no major problems. He requested me to meet him next week with the test results as it’s not an emergency in my case. Might be early stage of tinnitus as mshifi suggested. Well fingers crossed let’s wait and hear it out from the doctor.

my left ear went for a toss 4 weeks back all of a sudden. I was feeling totally stuffed with almost 85% hearting loss. It was also creating an imbalance overall and the going became quite tough. I had no pain except feeling stuffed and loss of hearing.
It could be a side effect of some harsh medication I had taken recently for a major ailment.

I consulted an ENT and also took multiple ear tests. The test showed there was a marginally higher loss in the left ear that the right,
The doc said ear canal was clear with no infection. He gave some vitamins and anti histamine and asked me to check for diabetes.
My diabetes was extremely borderline.

Over the the past 4 weeks the stuffiness has come down but some days remains bad, especially early mornings. Hearing in the left ear has improved but is still immune to highs and lows (so all Bose).
Steam inhalation by blocking the nasal cavity one at a time brings 3 to 4 hours relief, so I do it 3/4 times a day.

I did panic in the initial weeks, but have now accepted it and allowing the body to heal by itself.
No music in almost a month now though I watch some TV.

I am hoping the ear will get back to normal in the next 2/3 weeks.

@Love4sound wishing you a speedy recovery
