I tried couple of shops at Pune as mentioned in other threads. Unfortunately, I was not able to even see Yamaha RX-V463.

Can you people guide me to places where I can find Yamaha RX-V463.
I can even visit Mumbai provided RX-463 is there.

Thanks,
Vivek

I managed to have a demo at Vijay Sales for HTR-6140 and HTR-6130.
What I found that HTR-6140 is exactly same as RX-V463.

Now if features/specs are same then why two separate models? Also prices differ too.
Confused on this issue

I am not interested in grey market. Still I am trying to have an audition of RX-V463. Unfortunately didn't have any till now. :(

Thanks, spirovious.
I got these two links. Specifications are exactly same on both.

HTR-6140:
HTR-6140

RX-V463:
RX-V463

Maybe components being used in both are different.
I am carrying forward my research on what exactly is different in these two models. One thing which I suspect is the sound quality. I'll keep you'll posted on this.
If any of you guys have any insight on this, then please educate me.

Hi Vivekam,

I tried comparison between them & foud them similar.
Thing which I get-

1.It can be only difference that one model no. used for HT(6140) receiver &
other for individual(463).

2.The no. can differ with country & regions.

3.Generally HT receivers are average & others may be class product.
Earlier 400 series receivers use to have TOPART technology with High class
components.Now starts from 600series.

Only Yamaha can tell the truth.

Thanks spirovious.

I am yet to find out the cause for difference in pricing. The sole factor which is acting as catalyst in doing more Google searches for these two models. Curiosity has also increased to listen both these models.

Thanks,
Vivek Madhav

Yamaha has this thing under FAQs.

What is the difference between the RX-V line and the HTR line AV receivers ?
There are many similarities between these two product lines. The RX-V line and the HTR line are produced in the same Yamaha factory using the same high quality parts throughout. The RX-V and equivalent HTR models have the same warranty periods; the same manufacturers suggested retail price, the same features, and the same remote control units. There is a cosmetic difference found on the front panels of these two lines. The RX-V line maintains the traditional white colored lettering normally found on most Yamaha components, while the HTR line provides a slightly different approach. Yamaha has created a new look by using gold colored lettering in selected areas on the HTR receiver series. However, both the RX-V line and the HTR line feature the same high quality black metal front panel construction. The amplifiers in the HTR and RX-V units are identical but rated differently to comply with the accepted measurement standards of their respective channels of distribution. Both ratings are FTC approved and are designed to handle the dynamics of today's audio and video sources. The RX-V line has the power amplifiers rated from 20-20000 Hz. The HTR line has the power amplifiers rated at 1000 Hz. Both lines can reproduce the full frequency response of 20-20000 Hz. The RX-V line is typically sold through Yamaha authorized audio/video specialty retailers, and is not available for mail order sales. The HTR line is sold through mass merchants, catalog retailers, and department stores. You may also purchase the HTR line through the mail. All transactions must be done through the authorized Yamaha dealer network. Any purchase made from an unauthorized dealer/retailer voids the Yamaha manufacturer's warranty.

So in that case V series is superior to Ht.
bcos power ratings recorded across all frq than 1k of HT series.
difference can be marginal.

By the way gr8 research.

Yamaha RX 463 @ 26k and HTR 6140 @ 20k,both are same conf and bill with warranty

Abhijit15,
Price quoted for RX 463 is 31.5K at Pune. I am surprised on this.
In Mumbai, where is it available @26K? This would be helpful to me.

I was offered Denon 1706 for 18k when actual price @ profx was 28k.

Hi Vivekam,

By now you must have played with it. Would you like to share your experience? Does it decode audio over hdmi? And how much were the speakers?

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
