Musicmaya is banned in HFV, so the name is not quoted here and he will be invited to join us for the meet.

Thanks for mentioning the desi manufacturer's. All will be invited to promote their product and without their support and sponsor we cannot run an huge show. They will be given due credit and importance. First we are waiting for forum exhibitors to finalize and then we will jump on outsiders and finally our dealers/manufacturers/designers to extend their support and promote their product .

As soon as FMs have confirm and announce the date, I could make travel arrangements since, I have to travel from Salem to Chennai. Thanks to srini for such wonderful initiative.

Excited to see the enthu of our members traveling across Hundreds of Km for the meet, I have seen a member who is much interest to show case his set-up from West cost(God's Own country),which is more than 700+ KM.

For sure this meet going to be grand success.

To initiate and discuss, how to go about the meet, Chennai members are planning to meet at my house on Sunday afternoon around 3 to 3.30PM. Anybody who is interested for an evening relaxed meet can PM me.:) Of course you can listen to my moderate system too.;)

Update:

Initial kickoff discussion held at my house by evening 3PM.. :cool:

Member present:

Various aspects were discussed to go about on conducting the meet...

1) When we can conduct the meet >>> Poll will be soon added to check the members major choice

2) Whether meet can be held for 2 days >> Since this is the first time no big risk , hence limited to one day from morning 9AM to 6PM. Exhibiting members should land there by early morning to set up their equipment. Volunteers who were interested can join in helping to move the items from their nearest members houses.

2) Discussion on the place where we can conduct / Hotels or Serviced apartment / >>>> Deceided to go with Hotels like Savera / Gautham Manor / President /Why not Taj too;)

3) If in hotel or apt how many rooms / >> It was decided each exhibitor will be given one room to store/demo his equipment. As of now there are 10 exhibitors in list and now approach is for booking 10 rooms and later on rooms will be added once the exhibitors list increased.

4) Charges for participants : Could not be decided and will be announced once the place of meet and associated expenses were tabulated.

4) Members interest >>> Requested captn to shoot an e-mail to all the earlier participants to have more interest in joining as exhibitor or volunteer. Also request to get an e-mail id's who have attended Banglore meet to have more participants from Banglore.

5) Sponsors : It was decided to approach the sponsors once we finalize the hotel and associated expenses. This time due importance and proper room will be allotted to the sponsors to have full blown demo with their intended setup.

6) Do we need an hall >>>> Yes, we will hire an hall and also allot the hall to the sponsor who is bring more equipment's and also we can use the same for gathering and have small chit chat on DIY or any sharing of useful tips.

7) popularizing the show >> Press release will be issued well before the meet date and also they will be invited to cover the event. The event will be covered by prominent newspapers like Hindu, times of India and local area bulletins

Hi Srisundar,

I think paying for a Taj hotel room for two days to demo my personal equipment would be too expensive for me (probably for other hobbyists too). I guess it would be more suitable for dealers and distributors who have a commercial interest.
I would be happy to volunteer only.

Don't worry Kiran, the guys are looking for a good, affordable deal, and costs will be kept reasonable. I doubt very much it'll end up 5-star! Still worth asking, though: even high end hotels will bring prices down substantially for space that is otherwise not earning anything that day :)
 
How about Greenpark Hotel? They have a bunch of nice, acoustically treated conference rooms that might work. Instead of multiple small rooms, one big room may work if we allot time-slots for each setup? Would be definitely cheaper than 10 small rooms, I would think...
 
grubyhalo, Allotting time slots is fine. Sticking to it is the big problem.
Also then there is the matter of connecting, disconnecting and general setting up!

Why shall not setup all the Set-up in a single big room and Play the music on ALLOCATED TIME SLOT.
1.NO Space will be wasted.
2.Cheap cost.
3.Protection to Set-up as it will be in same room.
4.Reflection of sond\Echo could be reduced.
5.Seek help each other:),in setting up and packing things
6.As far my understanding 10 Members are interested in showcasing their setup.So can allocate total of around 45 mins per setup.15 min of 3 Session each.
7.No much risk in handling to drag or so

The only thing we need to do is, arrange for some quality Spikes ready to connect to the systems.


Within a Min disconnecting the current and playing next is easy(Like Next button in DVD)


The members who are presenting their set-up can choose their setup.

Sorry if this idea sounds funny, Just i made it as per my thoughts:)
