Not if you pair them with a warm front end & cables. I use such a set up. Tannoy system 1200, Gamut C2R pre, MC2 power amp.
The tannoy reveal 6 can also be an option. They are arnd 30k.

doh! What is "too transparent" ? More is better always isn't it?

Personally I would like the clinical feel if the timing is superb and amp warm.

hi gobbles,
like you put it the more the trasperency the better. the stereo imaging is razer sharp but warm not clinical in the case of definitive studio monitors. depends on the source also.vinyl sounds warmer than cd. personally i found b&w 685 stand mounts clinical.
