Hahaha. I agree ‘ liberal ‘ has been bandied about and abused without many being aware of its context. But I have used it consciously.
Ecological conservation is a real need , I agree. Environmental issues are real and pressing - that is also true to a certain extent.
But I’m pretty sure you are not wholly unaware of the real impetus behind the urgency of eco-sustainability - which is for- profit big western businesses , looking for ways to offset their negative image and potential revenue losses by adopting a pro-green outlook. You are aware of what happened with Nestle ,Nike and other Fortune 500 companies in the past.
The business merits of sustainability are based on the fact that even the most ardent climate-sceptic company executives face natural resource costs, public relations problems, regulatory burdens, and a green consumer segment. Thus it behoves them to embrace this model to keep the revenues soaring.
For us not running billion dollar companies , we have other priorities as far as this agenda is concerned.
To take from a Chris Rock joke -black filmmakers were not bothered with who won the best documentary Oscar in any year in the sixties , because they were busy getting shot or raped.
Cheers !
