Suggestion and help needed regarding buying n choosing 1 from Samsung LED 40F6400, 40F6100 AND Plasma 51F5500.

Ebay range is around 53k for LED 40F6400 and PLASMA 51F5500

LED 40F6100 AROUND 44K.

It only gives us 1 year dealers warranty and not official Samsung guaranty.

While official best prices IN MY CITY Jalandhar, Punjab are way too high -
40F6400- Rs. 72500
51F5500- Rs. 72000
40F6100- RS. 62400

Roughly 18k-19k difference.

When I told the local dealer about Ebay prices he said that Samsung now charges Rs.5000 visiting charges if the set is imported and not bought from India. Is this true ?

My budget was actually around 55k - perfectly suited with ebay price but warranty issue now is haunting me. What you guys say?

I am more interested in LED 40F6400 and Plasma 51F5500. LED 40F6100 only if I have to buy from local market because then 72k is too much over-budget for me.
Please tell me official best prices from other cities. Also help me choosing the best best among these . LED 40F6400 has better picture and better 3D quality but then Plasma 51F5500 has that extra size and matches every feature of LED 40F6400 very closely.

I used to be a master in choosing TVs 5 year ago but not in touch with the changing technology since last few years. So help n guide me in every aspect.

Vishal how you are trusting your hard earn money on ebay sellers, wat you will do if the seller runaway after selling you the products.Leds and plasma are prone for panel problems which is headache for every buyers even who bought with manufacturer's warranty .It is breaking exactly after 1 year in most cases.Don't take risks.Otherwise ask your friends or collegues to buy from abroad (if you have travelling friends that's more safer way).5k amount you can risk with ebays not 55ks.

If the ebay seller is not from your city...It will be a big risk.It depends.. 17K..If u have excess cash...i think u can take a chance.....

I agree about the risk of EBAY but I have carefully watched a seller for a month .EBAY Store- superdeals6666 . He has 100% good track record. He has sold over 200 LEDs in 3 months and has no negative feedback. Also I have communicated with him and he seems to be a genuine whole-seller of imported LEDs. They provide transit insurance and dealers warranty(Repair work to be done in my own city, dealer will arrange service from official Samsung service center under his own expense) for 1 year.
So now what you all say? Official price is too high in my city. I have inquired from various dealers but they are not giving any great discounts -- maybe because of high $ rate .. Samsung must have reduced their margin.

Easily official price here is 5k higher than what is offered in metros.

LED 40F6400 has better picture and better 3D quality but then Plasma 51F5500 has that extra size and matches every feature of LED 40F6400 very closely..................How did you come to that conclusion? in a dark low ambient setting plasma will look better than LED. In brighter rooms LED will look better. I don't want to get into Plasma vs LED debate, there are enough posts on the forum. However suggest to decide between Plasma and LED and then look into individual models once you know which path to take.

go for the samsung plasma ps51f5500....there is nothing like enjoying movies on a big screen....besides 51f5500 has better blacks than 40f6400.....when the blacks are good then colours look richer....and then samsung plasmas offer led like clarity than panasonic plasmas.....viewing angle is better on plasmas than led...and regarding your budget bargain with your local dealer and get the best price and pay by EMI.....

I did a lot of demo of both LED and plasma TVs. Really liked the PQ of plasmas, but some of the LEDs are also good, but normally all the costly ones only, like 9 series from Sony. Samy 5500 plasma is the VFM, with really good enough PQ. I will suggest 5500.

yes.Samy 5500 plasma is the VFM, with really good enough PQ. I will suggest 5500.

Can Plasma TVs handle 8-10 hours regular TV ( TATA SKY HD) daily ? 95% of times It will be used just to watch TV. For movies I already have a set-up in other room. Will these long hours of TV daily will effect Plasma's picture quality ?

EBAY Power sellers have have high ratings and good customer feedback to trust for.

For long hours of viewing I would definitely go with plasma over LED. There is less eye fatigue. LED thought brighter tends to give me a headache after a while. Plasma is more soothing on the eyes and more natural.

Recently I walked into a Sony store showcasing their latest 2013 LEDs. As good as they looked, perhaps some might even say jaw dropping looking at the brightness and colours..............5mins down and I was getting a headache, could not watch more. So, it all depends on what you like.

Finally deciding for Samsung Plasma 51F5500. Have already got couple of 40"ers LEDs, so lets go for a bigger screen this time. Also room being a dark one, reflection issue won't be there.

Went for a second demo today. To my disappointment, now best price Samsung distributor, other retailers and Croma Store giving is Rs.76,500 ( Till July 21 it was Rs.72500 under the company offer) and not ready to offer anything less than this Having studied prices on this forum, people have got it between Rs.65000 to Rs.68000. Don't want to pay extra 10k. Better will be to wait for any Independence Day offer (very thin probability).
Can anyone tell me current best price which is offered in your cities ? Will be even better if someone from Punjab or Delhi can give me best rates offered now. For saving 10k it is better to bring it in from a different city.

Myself & Yogi got it for 65K. Then the MRP was less. Now the MRP has gone up for all models. With the current MRP, the best discounted price should be around 68-70K. You go to regular multibrand showroom as well and try to negotiate with them. It is sometime easy to manage them. The Samy exclusive stores can also be tried. Just tell them that you are ready to pay only this much and would be booking immediately. They may oblige.

Have visited 6 retailers but all have same answer " Now days Samsung Billing is done online. We can't give you any further discount of our own. Best Price for Samsung Plasma 51F5500 is Rs. 76500."
Too much brotherhood seems to be among them. Being a small city, not much of multi-brand store option there. Have no option but to wait for some Company offer
65K seems to be a steal for @Manzb and @Yogi .

There might be some offer around Independence day.. otherwise, Dushera/ Diwali period is the time when it is sure to have some good offers. Anyway, mostly it is HT or BD player. I don't need a HT and I already have a BD player. Last year there was a TAB on offer.

Finally found a deal through Company links-- Samsung Plasma 51F5500 @ Rs.70,500 . I know people have bought it for 65k too but after price increase this seems a good deal.Will be getting it in a week.

Now I want to be ready with accessories before hand. So few queries --

1- Logitech K400r Wireless Keyboard and Lenovo N5901 Wireless Keyboard -- compatible with this TV ? Or any other keyboard anyone has tested? Samsung keyboard is too costly. While getting demo I was told that Logitech keyboard is compatible. But i didn't asked the model.

2- How many sets of 3D goggles can be used simultaneously . 1 pairs i will be getting free and want to purchase 2 pairs more from EBAY only if all 6 can work at same time. Does anybody know about this ?

3- I have already started downloading 3D SBS movies. Will they work through pen drive/ hard disk and 1st generation WD Media player ? Obviously original Bluray movies will give better details but I am hoping downloaded 3D sbs movies to give satisfactory results. Please advice me on this!

4- Which 3D Bluray player should I buy ( till year end only) ? Don't want to spend too much on it.

5- Please recommend a budget Sound bar for this! Already have a Sony 5.1 Home Theater for the other setup. Here I just need a satisfactory sound while watching movies. Do keep in mind the connecting options of Sound bar. Specs of TV tell me there is no 3.5 mm jack so wireless headphone can't be connected or there is some other way ?

I have asked bit too much in one go!
Still hope someone will find time to answer all my queries ; )
