Suggestion needed in choosing a STB

Hi guyz,

This is Karthik from Chennai. I m currently using TS HD and my annual subscription gonna end soon. I feel TS is very costly and less no of HD channels.

So am thinking to change to Videocon. Is it worth to to get D2H. I heard that D2H won't support 5.1 audio . I owe Onkyo HT 3500 and TS provide perfect 5.1 audio feed for few HD channels. So please give me your suggestion on this.

I want all HD channels, sports and English movies. Please help me to select the right package in TS or D2H .:yahoo:

D2H has most number of HD channels and supports 5.1 through spdif out.

The only thing TS has better ... well may not be better for quality but may be it is just slightly convenient is that it provides Dolby 5.1 over HDMI (No separate cable needed for audio). And also that it has a better user interface on display. But thats the stopping point. From point of view of Everything else D2H scores over TS.

Videocon d2h has 22 hd chs and in addition to what tata sky has , videocon d2h relays chs like zee studio hd, zee cinema hd, travel xp hd, 3d hd, cnbc prime hd, life ok hd, movies now hd, history tv 18 hd, ten hd which tata sky does not have. compare it to tata sky which has 12 hd chs(sony six hd is a temporary ch till ipl in tata sky)

videocon d2h has many gr8 sd chs like 9x0, 9x jalwa, utv world movies, big cbs prime, fox sports news, baby tv, nick junior, nat geo adventure and many more extra chs

regarding passing off dolby over hdmi, already a software updaqte has started which will enable usb recording on hd stb and passing of dolby digital sound over hdmi

lastly in this quarter videocon d2h will add many new sd and hd chs and their cost is lowest. another software update will come very soon enabling faster epg and uber cool interface

Don't harp too much on 5.1. 5.1 is effective on movies only. Even if some TV soaps provide 5.1, what is the enjoyment? Wish to hear Dhatadang Tatadang, Dhinchack Dhinchack over surround speakers?

And to answer your question, "No, not all HD channels have True 5.1 sound".
