Tata Croma launch online shop

Good for us.... but wonder if it makes any sense for their business... their only differentiating factor was in showroom 'look-n-feel' and 'salesmanship'... now they are juz another ecommerce player where lowest price is the winner (and they have showroom overheads to deal with....)

its a half-hearted effort from their side as they are seeing online retailers as a big threat to their business model...they are quite scared about amazon entering india in a big way...flipkart is already selling a major part of their product range...so they feel they need to be present online...but this will only work if they do what bestbuy and other stores following the same model in US do...that on the web you offer a "web special" price..and treat that channel as a separate SBU and not as a part of your existing in-store business..

That's a good news will wait for their good offers.

So there will be a price difference between Chroma brick'n'mortar shop and the e-retail site?
If yes, customers are bound to get angry.

If not, Chroma should plan to file for bankruptcy. You cannot match the prices of online shops that only pass goods from supplier to the customer. Who would pay for the shop floor, air conditioning, salary to sales people etc?

My shopping pattern > Research on net about the product category > Get idea about approx price > visit showroom for audition > Check best price > 99.99% online price will be far better (obvious) > order online ;)

i wonder where this leaves any place for these swanky showrooms... :)

May be in future we will have juz brand specific company owned showrooms for audition, while most purchases happen online through best price retailers...

yes i know there are people who trust personal dealing than buying online.... by i can sense mass exodus from their to the other camp ;)

would love to get some data feed from evolved ecommerce markets like US (split on online vs in showroom purchase for white goods...

Just check the website , First Impression is not very good, very less products and the rates also on higher side compare to other online store , I still prefer flipkart & Letsbuy for online shopping .

I guess for casual window shoppers who end up buying stuff.. :D
And for the non tech-savy for whom the online model does not exists :)

So, I think the showrooms have a place.. :) Nothing like walking into a showroom and been surrounded by gadgets.. that a different feel.. unless the website is 3D ;)

just food for thought..

have a nice day!

Just for fun..

The most costly HT system is for 62k.

A decent component HT system I guess would start there..

"Jaha consumer HT system khatam hoti hai... waha HIFI HT system ki shuruaat hoti hai..." :P
