HI,
We have Tata sky master dish. Got new HD PVR recently with panny 42ST 50 and Denon 1713 with KEFQ300.
Wiring of tata sky is concealed with connectors at duct and at my home entry.

Problem is-----

Signal loss with TV screen black out and no signal from dish or STB. Signal gained within few seconds on its own.
Connectors checked by SKY people.....perfect.
Still problem remains.
Is it due to any damage to wire through pipes while pulling?
Kindly help.

I too noticed this on Discovery Turbo and some HD channel. But my 10 year old son says changing channel or restarting STB solves issue. To me it looks like disk stuck sometime. Probable STB issue or broadcaster's temporary blackout.

How is the STB connected to TV? If it is connected through avr, handshake issues can cause picture loss.

HDMI connections are known to have handshake issues, in which case video or audio may be lost. Usually, the order in which you power on the components helps in avoiding HDMI handshake issues. It is usually recommended to power on the TV first, followed by the AVR (if present in the chain) and then the source (STB or blu-ray player).

HI,
Now TV (Panny ST50D) screen refuses to show any picture when connected through HDMI, But picture is seen via analogue. I have denon 1713, but problem persists even though AVR is bypassed.
TWO Problems---
1. Intermittent signal loss (signal quality and strength drops)
2. Why problem in HDMI?-----
- HD PVR changed once
- HDMI Cable too changed
- Verified with another panny TV 32C55D......Problem persisted.
But I have no problem in my SECOND TV in bedroom with HD PVR.

TATA sky people say.....
Problem is with HDMI port of panny ST 50D. They have encountered same problem with other panny TVs too. It causes STB HDMI port malfunction. Is it true? Can this happen?
Any similar real life stories?
What is the reason of signal loss? Is it due to connectors?
Help plz

Hi Joshi,

the TV will have multiple HDMI ports. So this problem is encountered even when you connect to any one of the ports along with the new cable?

cheers

Hi JoshiK,
Just last week I had a similar problem with TataSky but I had the normal HD box (not HD+). I had connected it to my 47inch LG 3d tv through Denon 1612. Intermittently it used to loose the signal, and the TV used to display the no signal message. There used to be no signal from the HD box at all. Usually if there is no signal to the HD box from the dish, at least there is a message on the TV saying "Your digicomp is not receiving any signal....." I did not used to get even that.

I also tried bypassing the AVR, but same problem persisted. Then I called TataSky about the problem and I was sure the problem was with the HD box itself. They replaced it for just Rs.350 including the service personnel visit. Now everything works fine.:)
Rgds,
Sachin

Hi dear Sachin,
TATA people once changed my HD PVR, but same problem is there. Now its second time that they will be changing my STB. Lets see what happens. Shall update soon.
Kindly share if there are any suggestions plz.

Was a solution found to the issue? I have Tata Sky+ and am having similar problem signal disappearing for half a second to one second. I have had 3 visits by Tata Sky people already. The have changed all the connectors and STB. The problem still persists. It occurs every 15 to 20 minutes and is very frustrating

I am using TATASKY with Samsung 40 inch LED 1080P 5000 series and is working OK with SD channels But when i tuned to any of the HD channel after sometime (30 seconds to 10-30 min.) intermittently go black screen and No signal message comes in. I am surprised that TATASKY says it's TV issue and Samsung says it's TATA Sky's issue and Few of my friends using the same TV have not reported any issues. but have seen a similar post here from JOSHIK.

Dont understand what to do

Check your HDMI cable also. I had same issue while HDMI switcher was in place. It some time HDMI handshake failure due to cable or protocol mismatch.

I have a query for the experts here:

Current Set-up:
I have Tatasky HD+, Philips DVD Player connected to Sony AV Receiver (8 years old).
The Video Output from AV Receiver is connected to my Samsung 40 Inch LCD.
The HDMI output from DVD player and Tatasky is connected to TV.
AV Receiver has Bose Speakers 5+1 connected for HT set-up

Issue:
The audio from the DVD player via AV Receiver sounds perfect with no distortion. The surround effect is fine.
However, when I switch to Tatasky Audio many time I see that audio distribution is not consistent. Sometime only the Right Speaker output is heard when the audio should have come from atleast the front speaker and then in seconds all the speakers are emitting sound as expected. This problem started 3-4 months ago.
When the AVR is switched off and audio from TV is turned on, everything seems fine.

What is wrong in this set-up? Is the Tatasky sound distribution inconsistent?
Can you please help.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
