Hi. I am Dr. Kaushik Chakraborty.I am a pediatric dental specialist and a Asst professor in a Govt Dental College in Siliguri, West Bengal. I am a child at heart when it comes to audio quality.
I require some help from all of you. I am interested in buying Onkyo S9100 THX HTIB. Is it worth for 83000 or are their better alternatives
?

Hello Doc,

Welcome and good to see another doc here. Again, settling down for a HTIB and going for separates depend on lot of factors, like time, patience, etc. By only the reviews and specs, it looks like the Onkyo HTIB is good, but you may await some first-hand user experience.

Otherwise, if you are patient (I know you are a doc:eek:hyeah:) and have time, you can very well go for the separates like AVR, Speakers, which has its own advantages of fullfilling our taste for a long term and disadvantages limited to cost and time! Taking the separates route will not disappoint you in any time, as you can chose each components very carefully matching your taste and can build them on an incremental basis.

If you share more about what would you be doing with your impending setup, like movies or music and what genre of music, our specialists will chip in with their suggestions.

Cheers!

With a 83k budget, why are you looking at an HTIB? Convenience?
Lose the shackles of the Onkyo bundled speakers and try out the variety of speaker packages available in the market.
There are various threads on AVR plus speaker packages queries here for you to read up on. Good luck.
