Turntables, Phono Stages and Cartridge Owners Roll Call

finally got an audio technica AT 92ECD. It wasnt the stellar improvement I was expecting compared to the stock cart. Only improvement is that the old one seems to have a ringing sound in the highs - that seems to be gone. Seems to be a problem with the stylus ( I played around swapping the stylus). The old cart vs the new cart makes no difference.

Hi Greenhorn,

from where you bought this cart, may i know which was the stock cart?

Regards

I had bought it from grabmore.in - have posted it elsewhere.

Not sure what the stock cart is - My TT is a JVC AL-A1 belt drive (late 80's) There are no markings on it. the stylus is a DT-45 conical stylus

Got my new entry level turntable - Clearaudio Concept.

The sound is in an altogether different league compared to my previous technics. This sounds clean, dynamic with amazing attack, a smooth ultra refined top end and very good bottom end heft. Tonality is excellent - far better than my CD player. IMHO for the price this sells at, its a complete steal.

Congratulations!! Looks hot...but can we get some clear shots of this beauty please?

Sure! I'll upload larger pics with my DSLR later. These were quickly taken with a phone camera.

congratulations for the new purchase, the initial photogrpahs look very good.

High resolution ones will give better idea. Please share detailed review as compared to the technics TT.

You may want to share the cost and cartridge details for the knowledge of forum members.

Beautiful!!!! Congrats. Must be sounding divine. And hardly "entry" level. What is the arm and cart?

The usual boxed verify tonearm and concept cartridge. Including an acrylic dust cover, it cost me 92000. I felt it was stunning value for money for something that sounds so incredible and is beautifully built by hand in germany.

Welcome Debjyoti to this nice world of vinyl. Sonodyne Uranus is one of the best amplifier you have. What is your expectation level? You may look for rewiring the turntable and lubrication at the very first instance. Shure M 44-7 is a great cart for vinyls as well. Please give some details.

Reuben, No doubt,You are Mr. TT. You made me to remember old ONIDA advertisement.

That's quite a list Reuben.
Technics SP10 MKII is 'the' audiophile turntable, never part with it.
Unless you are giving it to me.

Regards.

Well Hiten, to be honest, I always wanted to own a good TT but somehow, I always believed that one has to "experience" something to "like" it. Hence, one thing led to another and before I knew it, I had a stock-pile sitting in my cupboard. The irony of the whole thing is that I cannot enjoy any of these as they are all at home and I am not at home :(

I am one of the "ultimate" Technics fans and although I don't own the SL1200, it is one of the best that I have heard. I wanted to better that and that's how the SP25s and finally, the grand daddy of them all, the SP10 MK2 arrived. It is such a master piece that I actually spent a whole couple of hours just admiring it, when it arrived.

I auditioned the LP12 in Ireland recently but could not make up my mind. Somehow, I never liked anything to do with belts (even though the LP12 sounded outstanding) and that's how the TD124 or 135 are missing from my stable as well :)
