Wow. Any particular lp or Lps you would recommend for a person never been exposed to Oriya music.
Yes they had, and continue to have, a thriving recording industry covering all genre of music.
The most prolific Odiya singer/composer/lyricist was Late Akshoy Mohanty and he continues to enjoy a demigod status. He was much ahead of his time and sort of RD Burman/Kishore Kumar/Jawed Akhtar rolled into one. You can find his work in youtube.
Most importantly Im yet to come across a badly recorded/pressed Odiya LP. Almost all of them were recorded in Cuttack and the mastering/balancing is top notch.
One more combination of Pancham Da, Kishore Da and Shakti Da... superb recording..
Jaiyo na Jaiyo na door..
Kaunse Dariya..
and special treat .. O Manjhi re Teri Nayya.. sung by RD himself. Quite resembling to SD's songs in 60s and 70s
Listened Bangla version of the songs in late 80s when I was in Calcutta and those were also equally beautiful.:clapping:
