For point 4 thats another yes or atleast with the new 1.02 firmware upgrade ! The upgrade also talks about fixing the choppy playback issues. Udaji the best way of knowing any new product thoroughly is to hunt for a user manual online. The WD TV manual is a 7mb pdf file and your most of the questions will be answered.

Here is another shocker. techtree has an review on this player and is quoting the price at Rs 6500/- . So i guess the prices are gonna come down very fast !! :clapping:hyeah::yahoo:

Apparently you can get one in Nehru place without bill and warranty for that much. They say taxes take it to over 7500/-

Mumbai lamigton road quotes are aroud 7.5 K to 8.2 K

Now it seems that ad appeared in Chip and price quoted in that ad is 6.5 K.
Now a contact is givem In AD - amarjeet sigh -93210-29204
I called Mr Singh and he told me that price was w/o tax and this is not being IT product but entertainment product this goes in higher tax slab.

Also in mumbai there is octroi.

Hmm good point there. The booting thing is another reason why I did not go for HTPC. I think the WD TV scans your external drive after you plug the same in. But does it do that every tie it starts up. For ex my Archos scans its onternal drive only when it detects a change in the internal media content and Archos is an Instant on thingy.

Spirovious bhai, I really need your help. I read in the Universal Remote thread that you have a Logitech Harmony 525. I am also planning to get the remote for myself. Somehow that thread is not being read so much hence I needed to post the same here.

I have a Electrolux Split A.C. in my room. The dealer crook took me for a ride and gave me a faulty remote.Now the warranty is finished and the remote just refuses to operate. My A.C. has a LCD display only on the remote itself which controls the temperature, the fan speed and the vent fin oscillation along with timer etc. Now is it possible to map the temperature, the fan speed and the vent fin oscillation to Logitech 525 ? Can you please please try with your a.c and let me know sir ?

5. Bad subtitle support and non-support for MPEG 2. Also, the HD WMV clips I downloaded from Microsoft site the Audio was not supported I am yet to research on that due to lack of time. Haven't seen any hanging or crashed in last 2 months usage.

here everone is mentioning that DTS is passed thru via HDMI..

now my question is that whether it will also passed thru optical out or not as my reciever doesn't support audio via HDMI.

mine reciever is yamaha rx-v463.
it do decode DTS but can only recieve signals via optical input.

rx-v463 certainly accepts digital audio over hdmi.

Also in Vashi reliance digital they sell a chinese universal remote Chunhop or something @ Rs 650 - one of the gadget it controls is AC - and it has Digital diplay too!~!~

Nope. It wont as it can't recognize that audio codec. Even the latest firmware does not have any update for it.

WD TV does not pass DTS via HDMI it passes it via Optical Put.
