If it's petrol engined, then nothing comes close to a Honda.Period.
Especially at this price range. Brio feels very nice to drive & the interiors feel airy compared to beat. Honda resale value is also much better.
And looks like if you love Brio it'll Love you back:eek:hyeah::clapping::yahoo:
All the best

brio looks refreshing and new... it's got that coolness....

engine..... honda is a no brainer. will give you that WOW effect...

Rest assured, when the cars go for resale, honda will eat beat for breakfast. At the minimum, the brio will sell 50k more. Additionally the fuel savings which brio brings in and riding pleasure is alone worth the 25 odd k difference.

also to add... chevy A.S.S. is real bad even if they give 4 years or warranty and blah blah. had seen the torture my friends going through for the magnum and cruze...

stick to honda... saw a blue brio parked downstairs and its uber cool..

So I own a brio for the last three months or so. I got one of the first lots since I booked early october. Mine is the V-MT model with ABS and Airbags. Here are the likes and dislikes

+ Super engine - you can rev rev rev it way to glory and you'll never get bored
+ Excellent interior for the price - nothing feels cheap or out of place. Its very well put together too and there are no rattles.
+ Tonnes of space - even at the rear.
+ Probably the best handling honda available in India right now - its highly chuckable and there very little body roll by honda standards.
+ Hands down the nicest steering wheel available in any car this side of 10 lacs. The steering feel is pretty decent too, especially with upsized rubber. Its very light at parking speeds but firms up significantly when speeds increased. It is also very direct and lightning quick - especially by hatch standards.
+ Superb audio system - I really mean it - you can spend thousands and still not match the OEM audio quality of this little hatchback - it is seriously that good.
+ Nice and slick gearshift. Not the best in the class but pretty close.
+ Only Honda that doesn't scrape the mountains called speed breakers in Bangalore
+ I've only been to the service center once and it was a very good experience.
+ Excellent visibility all round because of the large green house thanks to all the glass.
+ Brakes are very very good and stopping distances are very short.
+ Tiny turning radius means its very easy to park and manouver in the city.

Now for the downers
- Tiny boot - fits only one suitcase and not much more. I did not get a parcel tray either. However I hear the newer V variant cars are coming with a parcel tray.
- Short gearing means there's not much of top end - maxes out at 150'ish on the speedo. However it does get there very very easily.
- Not much grip from the stock mrf zvtv/goodyear oem tyres. A change and upsize is highly recommended. You won't have half the fun this car is capable of providing with stock rubber. However this issue being a bit undertyred is universal with all hatchback.
It came with 175/65 R14 Goodyear. I upgraded to MRF ZLO 195/60 R14. Its an awesome tyre for 4300 bucks.
- Fuel efficiency is not as good as you'd expect. I'm getting roughly 12.5-13 in the city. I'd have expected more considering its a tiny, light car with a small engine. The car has seen only shell premium in its short life so far so its getting the best possible fuel. I say this is poor as my 2 liter Mitsubishi Cedia gives me 10-11 with the same fuel on the same roads with track spec sticky advan neova tyres. The best highway mileage seen so far is 19.
- No rear demister/wiper. This is super painful if you are stuck in the rains as rear visibility becomes virtually zero. Not sure why honda skimped on this.
- Interior illumination is a bit of a pain with one tiny light in the middle.

I dont know specifically about Beat but having been owner of Honda and Chevy models previously, I say just go for Honda. Total cost of ownership is lower compared to the Chevy. Also the quality aspects and frustration levels in maintaining a Chevy is way too high. I went through a fair no. of recalls and arrogant service people.

if not for the wait times due to Japan Tsunami, I would have bought a Brio. Instead I went with a Swift and happy so far though it is definitely not as smooth as the Honda or Hyundai i20.

Honda Brio. Better engine, more resale value, not as radical looking as beat but fresh new looks (especially the large tail window), having owned a chevvy cruze since last year and a half- surely less maintenance costs in honda.

+1 to Brio , Refined Engine , Honda Reliability , Better Resale , Low Maintenance , Better Service Intervals comapre to Beat . . . Suggest Test Drive both and decide as per your comfort . . .

Cheers
Sauri....

I find the LT model of the beat to be quite nice , good fit and finish. ( plus the added advantage of having climate control, 60/40 split seats, Integrated audio system). the Beat is supposed to go through a facelift for 2012. Don't know when that is expected though.
With the Brio, I found that Honda has cut a lot of corners

But overall the Brio will be a drivers car and much better in terms of space, resale, comfort.
Condering there are not many on the road as of now. the exclusivity still exists. Have you take a look at the new offerings from Hyundai the New i10 and Eon ?

Honda is a specialist four stroke manufacturer. That means Honda petrol engines are hard to beat. However the Brio is a wider vehicle which can pose some problems on narrow by lanes. On the other hand the Beat is a compact well sorted car which has a well sorted ride. The diesel Beat is a rather special option and is also a very promising car. My choice would be the diesel Beat with its oodles of torque.

Go For beatz Disel. I really liked the driving in beatz, Quick pick up/power.I couldnt go for it because of its lack of space in the rear. If its for personal use its a good car.

Honda Bio- Interiors are better than Beatz , Didnt drive it. Bad part is its low ground clearance especially for indian roads.

Ford Figo also can be considered.good VFM car. Good drive, bad part-> interiors are dull.

Choose your priorities and select one car.

Got to dis-agree on that.
No EPS(electric Power steering) under 10 Lacs can come near the 'feel and directness' of a HPS(hydraulic Power steering) unit.
EPS units are either 'feel-less' & too rubbery (or) come with a fake 'feel'.
The best steering units under 10L are the ones in Punto, Figo, Fiesta Classic & Linea, and they are all HPS.

I meant the wheel not the steering feel. Obviously HPS is better but these days whether you like it or not, the entire world is moving to EPS. Even BMW which is the benchmark for steering feedback has moved to EPS - not just in the commuter cars but also in the F10 M5. Its the same with the new 911 Carrera S. The brio's steering feel is probably the best amongst the EPS hatchbacks.

The best steering feedback under 10 lacs is the Fiesta S followed by the Cedia and Figo. The fiats are decent but not close to either.
