If you have a room with minimal acoustic treatment towers will do just fine... You can also ask him to arrange a cinema 110 ct package for audition . Just so you know the difference ...

buy the way the paradigm monitor series is comparable to which series in other brands vis a vis .... in psb, b & w, monitor audio, dali etc.

it would be good to know what i'm comparing to what.....

I bought the Paradigm Cinema 90 and an Onkyo TX SR577 for a shade over 50k.

As someone who's used to high end two channel audio, this was the closest I could get to a decent surround experience without spending an arm and a leg. The paradigms are extremely detailed, have a decent full mid range which results in clean dialogue without sibilance and reasonably tactile bass that doesn't any overhang. I only received it yesterday and the setup is still burning in so I'll post detailed impressions later.

hi friends,

after researching, reading reviews & doing demos for about 2 months i have come to a realization that a 5.1 setup upto 75k as i was looking out for is not going to give me a quantum jump in sound quality that i am looking for.... I'm currently using a yamaha htib ( NS P110 ) i got from vijay sales 4 yrs ago.

Also i'm looking to invest once for a system that will keep me happy at least for 5 yrs minimum if not more. I dont want an upgraditis in 1 or 2 yrs.

Hence there is only one option and that is to increase the budget..... So i have decided to double it to Rs 150000.

I have already pretty much made up my mind for the subwoofer. It will be a SVS pc 12 nsd which removes about more than 50k from the equation.

Hence this has essentially now become a hunt for a 5.0 Setup with the remaining 100k.

Room size is 20 x 15 x 9. And the setup will be used entirely 100 % for movies....

Update:

Went to Lakozy Delhi yesterday on their inauguration day. Many congratulations to our fellow members Ashish & Shitij...!!!

They have 2 very beautifully done up demo rooms. One for Stereo Auditions and the other larger one for the Home Theater Demos.

We officially have PSB & Nad in Delhi.... I guess they might be doing a few more brands.

So delhi people, check out lakozy...!

heard these combinations today....

Q Acoustics 2010 + 2000C + 2010

- Sound was quite nice. Avatar bluray demo has a superb soundtrack with some amazing effects which the Q Acoustics played really well.

- i found the the center was may be too small for my 20x15x9 living hall. but i had to hear it since i'd read a lot of good stuff about the Q Acoustic 2000 package.

Paradigm Monitor7 + cc 190 + adp 190

- sound was much better than the q acoustics package. this was more in the new budget i've setup of 5.0 for 100k.

- dialogue was much clearer and the effects well more detailed. The Adp 190 Dipoles sounded way better than the direct radiating surrounds of the q acoustics package. They had a more of an enveloping sound with me not being able to figure out where the surround/ambient sounds were coming from.... thus i felt more in the environment of the movie i,e the jungles of avatar.

- i had read that the paradigms are supposed to be "Bright" but i didn't find them to be so.

However all in all i wasn't too impressed with the Paradigm combo. It was good but not something which would make me want to buy it right there.

So the hunt for a 5.0 within 100k is still on....

Try the Monitor 9 with adp 190 and cc290, this comes to 1 lakh.

I found this much better than the Monitor 7. You could take the cc190 to save costs and space (290 is huge).

can't demo cc290 or the Titan & 9 here in delhi... same with studio series...

i considered B&W 685 based setup, but it's overpriced... don't like the brightness of jbl, polk & klipsh... was not impressed either by the dali or by quad... no idea bout jamo... cant demo usher in delhi...

i'm looking forward to the PSB demo...

what other good 5.0 setups can be had for 100k...?

Jamo 607 based 5.0 should be in the 1 lakh range
Deftech should have multiple options
Usher 601's too should be in the same range

nah buddy.... been extremely busy the whole of last month with work. so have had no chance for demos...

But i should have some free time starting mid of jan'11 and i intend to complete my demos by end of jan and make a decision & purchase in the first week of feb...

I have tried, Energy Take classic, Energy RC-Micro, Mirage MX, Paradigm Cinema CT 110, Q-Acoustics 2000 Cinema, Deftech Mythos Gem, Martin logon Motion series ( with Martin logon motion 2 in front and rear, ML 6 as Center and Some Paradigm Sub)

Amongst all these I liked Martin logon motion series and Deftech Mythos Gem. Leaning more towards Martin logon ( with Motion 4 as front, ML 2 as rear and ML 6 center + a sub) as i will be able to get these from US at much lesser price then Indian price. ( otherwise i think Deftech Mythos Gems may be lil better than ML)
