5.1 Setup for Rs 50000 - 70000

sorry if this has already been discussed. Have you auditioned the violet system? I watched black night at lakozy delhi for a while and I was lost in the movie. Dialog clarity, bass, everything was there. It looks good and is convenient in placing. Regarding screw bulb holders, I think it should not be a big or expensive task to replace yours. If you don't want, I think there was a normal plug available as well.

Kirti,

Sure buddy... i'm out of town for the next few days but i'm going for PSB demo on 30th of this month with my brother. You are welcome to join us... :)

Hey Kirti,

I have been to Lakozy 2 times for demo. Infact yesterday also i was there. PSB is a good brand and hopefully you will like it. The speakers are on the warm side. Not so bright. And Ashish is a nice person and gives demo in a very satisfactory way. May be i'll join u in ur next Demo then.. :-)

Hey Naren,

Yes it wud be very nice if we three were together. But anyway we r here in HiFiVision so we can exchange our views. :-)

Guys, I'm totally confused in sub. Have you both bought the sub already? I am not able to find a good sub which can shake my bedroom. The bass should be tight n should be able to give hard punch. My budget for sub is 35k. Anyone auditioned Earthquake subs? Are they good?

Hi Akhil,

Kirit has alrady bought SVS PC 12 NSD for approx 55-57K INR, I am yet to buy one and my budge it also not more than 35K. I am trying to see if i can get this same sub from US as its little cheaper there but the problem is its weight and size so not too sure if i can get it from there.

I have also heard the earthquake subs are very good but i think the may not come in 35K INR. Have you auditioned this one and have you enquired about the price?

Kirti,

Good to know you are beginning your demos again :-) I am also planning to audition a couple of new speakers probably next week have been busy with the renovation going on at my place. Looking at above I think i should also audition PSB in addition i am planning to re-audition Deftech mythos, can you tell me if you have any specific model/s in your mind for psb that you are to audition towards end of jab ?

Akhil,

Could you tell us what model of PSB you auditioned and what combination of center, rear and sub ? also what was the price quoted ?

Additionally if you could also share the info like what all speakers you have auditioned so far it will be helpful. Thanks

Hi Naren,

My taste is little bit different i think. For movie purpose i like speakers which gives heavy sound. The sub shud be good and total experience shud be like cinema. I auditioned PSB Alpha series cuz those were only speakers in my budget. PSB Alpha T1 floorstands, Alpha C1 center n PSB 5i Sub. But the room where i auditioned theae speakers were so big that the heaviness was just lost. That was my first PSB auditioning. I still liked the PSB floorstands cuz i thot the sub was just not enuff for that big room. I decided to go for Def Tech Pro Sub 1000 and Q Acoustic center n Rears.

Yesterday i again went for PSB demo and was in the smaller room. Same setup but still the heaviness was missing. It was like Sub isnt producing much bass. We changed to def tech pro sub800 from PSB 5i but that was even more under power. I dont understand how cud it happen cuz these subs r of 300w and the room was just of bedroom size but still no heavy thumping sound. We even changed to PSB HD8 which is of 1700w but nothing much difference. I think it was definitely some settings which were not right. I have auditioned Q Acoustics 2000 series and was really impressed with the sound. The sub was small but still the overall effect was cinematic. But the music quality wasnt as good as PSB.

Before that i auditioned Canton but they are expensive and are musical. Not HT types. These are all my opinions so may be your taste is different you like these speakers.
Today i auditioned Dali Concept series 2nd time. I am really impressed with tbe audio. Although they are a little expensive than PSB but i can think of them if i wont get any other good option.

Earthquake subs i havent auditioned but just read in reviews n forums that they r good. Yes there are dealers in India but in bangalore. You can contact them and they can deliver to you. But how you will audition?

Akhil,

Thanks for sharing that, try to audition Deftech Mythos Gems these are bookshelves not floor standers but just them then a listen. I have liked them and they did give the cinema like experiance, they are definitely better than Q- Acoustics as well. They cost approx 65k for 5.0 but there may be some discount with negotiating.

For Sub - Try Deftech super cube III with above combi or you can even try with your psb combi. I think you will like it. I tried this on while audition and i was watching Air Force one, it was just very powerful and tight. this one costs approx 45K (without negotiating )

Guess I should also audition PSB and Dali probably next week or so...

Kriti / Akhil
Do keep posting your reviews about the new demos :-)

Hi Naren,

Its difficult to get the demo of Deftech Mythos Gems here in Delhi. I dont know any of the dealer has this setup. If Kirti has auditioned it, may be he can share the information to me of the dealer and I will go for the demo.

The reason of me buying Floorstands is for the music purpose. I will listen to music also on these Floorstands. Otherwise my bedroom size is small and Bookshelves will be enuff for the 5.1 setup.

Super Cube-III is out of my budget. I have a budget of 35k for sub. :(

Day after tomorrow I am going for Wharfedale, AAD and QUAD auditioning. Will share my experience here. Yes, you get the demo of Dali n PSB and share the experience.. :)

Akhil,

45K for Super Cube III was the quoted price by ther dealer I am sure there can be some discount.. just take a look at this one and atleast you will have something to compare with regardless of which sub you finally purchase. Also if you can get it for 40K am sure if you like it you may incresae your budge for sub by 5k :-)

Akhil / Kirti - One of the forum member bought HSU- Ventriloquist HTS he had tried quite a few of brands and he seems to be very happy with his purchase. If its available in India then may be we should give it a listen too ( below is the link for his post)
