Amp enclosures/chasis cabinets

Oh no, I meant the chassis. I have a fair idea how much the Conrads would cost. In my search I could not find a cheaper and effective alternative for the FirstWatts than the Conrads...

Here are some more WIP pics

Also got some costs added up today for gruby

Only Hardware costs ( Premium kit i have used in the current build) - cost rs 1600INR

Includes original Neutrik XLR Ips ( 2nos)&Gold plated RCA ( 2nos Taiwan) , Imported Gold plated Speaker binding posts Taiwan (4nos),Fused IEC inlet (Taiwan),1 nos Switch Heavy duty (Taiwan).

Note : None of the hardware is local MX stuff and will better the hardware on any commercial budget offerings from marantz,NAD etc and will rival most mid fi brands.A tall claim I know but im pretty confident in what I use

Hardware from the house of MX will cost about 1/3rd of the above

Milling costs ( estimate from my mill shop) for ONLY the top cover panel (60 air vent slots and side profile mill) and the REAR panel ( for the keyhole slots for speaker binding posts, XLR,Switch and IEC ) is about 3k - which is probably what many people budget for the entire chasis

the entire build will probably cost 12k

this cab is unique
the aluminum extrusion in imported from US and this forms the framework of this cab that allows you to remove the SIDE panels independently without moving the front, rear, top or base panel
The top and bottom panel are SLIDE OUTS ( no screws )

Thanks so much for the estimate Magma, appreciate your time. 12K, I think, is reasonable. I will get in touch with you when I start my project. Thanks again for your time.

sorry no plan for HTPC cabs
PC cabs have too many slot cutouts for various cards, usb, external devices etc
It is Not feasible to mill all these

PC manufacturers use sheet metal which is bent and slots are punched through using dies on a power press
Though we have these machines in the factory we do not possess the dies

Die costs are huge and not feasible to invest in for retail qtys

moreover silver stone cabs can be bought at 7k
for that price no custom maker will even hold a candle next to them

yes i have done some custom work for a client who thought differntly
He wanted a wood base and only a shel
He didnt belive in PC cabs as we know them

lets say his HTPC base is close to how peter Daniel sells his assembled diy nos dac

some completed pics

Please excuse the quality ( many are blurry - dont know why my hand wasn't as steady today)

The cab was actually a project i had been wanting to work on for quite some time now.In fact it uses extrusions imported from the US for which i waited 4 months
It is coincidence that a fellow member ended up wanting the same thing and hence this cab will finally find its home with him.

This is probably one of the best cabs ive made to date.

i just hope he puts some serious electronics in it one day and is happy- to make my efforts worthwhile
Was hard for me to let it go.

Note: the brass spike footers are for illustration only - the final version will have the same footers but in aluminum ( matt silver anodized finish to contrast the black and match the silver corner accents)

maybe very good functional case can be modded by you to look very good :)

Sure reminds me of my days (1973) when I used a lathe to cut and bend almn. chasis for my valve amps, This sure looks professional, GREAT!

I think one amp which can get a good makeover from Magma's workshop would be the Norge amps. Replacing the front fascia with 8mm brushed aluminium faceplate would add that wow factor to the otherwise dull looking amp.

Homes for my DAC's

started some work on some cabs
One will form the basis for a budget cab that omishra and Sachu have asked me to look into
the other cab is a bit more fancy with recessed faceplate, airvents and brass spikes

budget cab internal height- 60mm currently
internal dimsn
about 9*10 inch

How much are you planning to sell these for sir. What are the inner dimensions.

sir
its not going to be close to the rates you buy them - purely for one reason
these aren't mass produced but made one off

my target for the budget cab is 2000rs INR- but i really dont know how much it will eventually turn out and what hardware i can offer bundled
(currently the IEC power connector , switch and 2RCA's are sure )
i will know only after ive actaully completed the build

(Please understand this is only a hobby and im no good at estimates)

All aluminium
no air vents
4mm base
plain 6mm faceplate, - 3mm rear plate with
