Hi guys. I am a recent join in this forum. I need some advice on which amplifier (or at least which amp specs) would go best with the Wharfedale Diamond 9.6 FS speakers.

the technical specs of the spkrs are

Bass 8" 200mm Bass
Midrange 8" 200mm B/M, 2" 50mm tex midrange
Tweeter 25mm tex
Power 40-200W
Nominal Impedance 6ohm
Sensitivity 90dB
Frequency 28-24k @ -6dB
Crossover 150Hz, 1.0kHz, 6.0kHz
Frequency Fb 30Hz
Dimensions 42.52" H x 9.72" W x 13.03" D (height on spike & plinth 44.61" H)

The setup I'm planning is for hi-fi use and not home cinema, so I guess a stereo amp would do, but which one?

Many Thanks guys

Hey. I have a similar thread for my 9.5. See if you can get any help from there. Would not be much of a diff. Check my thread and u shall get ans.
Also what's ur budget

than x. I did peruse thru your posts. My budget cannot stretch beyond 25 k. From what I can make out the Yamaha AS 500 shud do fine.

Yamaha AS500 would be able to drive the WHarfedales 9.5 but I don think it wd take 9.6 which are 200 watt speakers easily... Look for higher amps than AS500 ,,,

Hi Yahoo,

What amp would be required to drive 500 watts speakers? And which brands would you recommend?

I am no technical wiz but from what I can understand the 9.6 has a range from 40-200 watts. Hence the As 500 which has a power output of around 85 or 100 watts shud be able to drive them comfortably.

Feel free to correct me if any of you think I am talking crap.

Thanx
