Try to meet Mr. Kadam , Alliance 4 at Goregon. Near kamat club.he will give you best price of Onkyo , Yamaha and denon

Mate, does he deal in 220V or 110V AVRs....the difference in price of US(33k) and Indian 609(46k) is 13k inclusive of the step down transformer... in Mumbai.

Can anyone state the price of Yamaha Aventage 1010 model. Its got 5 star rating in Whathifi.com. i have heard that Yamaha is good for music too, i am not super rich right now :) to afford separate amp for 2 channel listening. i own a Onkyo HTR 340 receiver for last 6 years and if i buy this , gonna keep it for next 5 years for sure. Also i am interested with 220v model with bill and warranty.

the 609 is a good choice especially for movies... Although you should remember Avenuesound stocks US version of these receivers & not the Indian versions... You will get dealer warranty... If that is not an issue then remember to negotiate with them as 33k is not the final price... I m pretty sure you can get it for below 30k(maybe even 25-27k).... BTW do also consider the speakers you want to pair with them before buying a receiver...

Thanks for the quick reply, my first preference would be to go for one with Indian mains voltage (220V). If not Avenue what are the other options I have? Whats the best price for NR609 anyone has got?

Regarding the speakers I thought if I get a good deal on the receiver I would buy it now and buy the speakers later after I save up some money and do some research.

Usually they don't stock Onkyo, you may want to get it pre-ordered through Avenuesound from US, that can take some time for the delivery, just check with them.

I'd suggest you save money for both and buy them at one shot. No point in buying AVR now and adding speakers months later. You will loose warranty on AVR idle period.:)

what kittu says above does make sense, but generally its quite tough to hold on to your dough when you have it...i was in a similar situation when i first bought my AVR. But then I had my old kenwood book shelf speakers to use with the AVR. I added new speakers later when i saved up some more.

if you have some spkrs which you can hook on to your avr, i suggest you go ahead. but of course it does depend on person to person. if you are the kind of guy who can hold on the money, wait and buy both together.

by the way do consider denon 1912. somehow i found the sound better than Nr609 for music. 1912 was more detailed and less brighter. both hooked to my sonodyne 2605.

cheers
