Hi there,

This is my first post. Can anyone recommend a good sub under 30k. My room size is 11 X 10. Here are few ones I have shortlisted, have personally auditioned some of them.

Paradigm - PDR 12
Polk PSW 12
Polk Audio PSW 505
WHarfedale SW 150
Klipsch Sub 12

Out of these has anyone auditioned Paradigms, from what I have read on the Web they seem good. Any ideas .Also wish SVS had a dealer in India

I have owned and used the Wharfedale Diamond SW150 and I can recommend that one. It is a great value for your money. I would also suggest you to get the previous issue of AVMax magazine where they have a subwoofer shootout and review.

Hey Rasmikant,

Do you own or have you auditioned any Velodyne? There is one particular model that interests me that is CHT 10. Any idea how its priced? Well would get in touch with Mr. Jignesh to know more. BTW is he based out of Bombay? Coz I am at Hyd.

Cyrus- I have good read good things about Wharfies especially SW 150. It is one of the serious stuff on my consideration list. Had a look at the AV Max edition of this month. Been always looking fwd to the bass special issue. But honestly. It was kind of let down. They did not review any specialist brands like REL or Velodynes moreover most of them are way beyond my budget. To sum up it was strange mix of brands and price points. What say you...

Peace...micjak

I am using Velodyne CHT-8 and is very good. I have used Wharfadale before but was not impressed with it so exchanged it for Velodyne. I thought of buying CHT-10 or VX-10 but for my small room CHT-8 itself was enough. Frequency response wise there is not much difference between the above velodyne models and Wharfadale SW-150, but velodyne is heavier and sturdier than Wharfadale. BTW, I live in Singapore and i think for 35k you can come to singapore and buy CHT-10 or VX-10 and with good subwoofer cable as well.

I agree with you. The review is not done in a systematic way.
Apart from the Wharfedale, Velodyne is a great sub too. However since I have not heard them lately I cannot comment on them. You can check with the Indian distributor for a dealer in Hyderabad and give them an audition.
