I've recently bought a pair of ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 speakers to replace the Akai speakers that came with my Akai AX-670 vintage stack system. I plan to pair them first with the Akai AX-670 before replacing the Akai with a Denon PMA-600NE integrated amplifier in a year or two.

I bought the ELACs from a specialist hifi shop as I wanted to be sure that they were a good fit with the two systems. However, the guy who sold them to me said only that they would 'work' with both systems leaving me unconvinced. I understand pairing involves wattages and ohms but, honestly, if all leaves me baffled.

The ELACs are still boxed so I have the option to return them. However, I'd like to keep them as reviews suggest they are great speakers. Therefore, could somebody advise on compatibility in each case with:
  • Akai AX-670
  • Denon PMA-600NE
I have attached a PDF with specifications for both systems as well as for the speakers themselves. Any help or advice would be gratefully received. Thanks!

Don’t worry they would work easily with both, try both see which one you like most.
Though I would use denon as its modern and comes with a decent dac.

Was using Elac debut 2 B5.2 with Denon PMA 600NE Since last 2 years and was satisfied with the sound quality. Then I bought Dali Spektor 2 bookshelves, Both are good in their own ways. But the Dalis have a edge over Elacs.

Elacs designed by AJ inherently need good clean power to perform at their best.

To answer your questions - yes they should & will work with both!

However - not to open Pandora's box - (and I apologise for the unsolicited advice), considering you are in UK, please look at offerings from Audiolab. A used (under warranty) AL6000a from ebay should be around the same price as the PMA 600 NE and will be able to drive the ELACs better. As Mash correctly mentioned, the ELACs are great speakers, but do prefer cleaner better power, an Audiolab 6000A or something equivalent maybe a better bet :)
