Has anybody been able to watch ESPN HD in Airtel DTH

Well the way it is working in Airtel is if a world cup match is on you will get to watch it in HD doesn't really matter which channel broadcasts it. It can be ESPN HD , STAR cricket HD or something. I am not too sure what will happen if two matches are played simulataniously. I am quite sure nobody knows that answer as of yet we just need to wait and see what will happen. So far service goes I am very happy and I got what I wanted with least hassle.

i just bought airtel too. i bought the HD DVR and the regular DTH which will be sharing the same antenna.

HD DVR - Rs 3590 includes DVR box (which can record 250 hrs of SD channels only) + Remote + 3 months of Mega Pack + HD channels (NatGeo , ESPN and WorldCup)

PLUS

Digital TV - 1199 - SetTop box + Remote + 40 days of Mega Pack

This includes the installation (12m of cabling per box)

The Airtel DV recorder is not HD. If you go through the Product Spec on Pg 37 of the manual, you will see that the video output through HDMI is fixed at 576p. For HD you need a minimum of 720p. This box will not output HD video, I do not see why it should record HD video.
To be fair to Airtel, they do not call it a HD Recorder on their website or anywhere on the box or manual. It is the dealers who call it a HD box.

If you go through the manual of the Airtel HD box, it does not mention the resolution of the HDMI output, I guess we are taking it as HD in good faith.

I bought Airtel a couple of weeks back. Their installation is very neat - no messy wires or patchy job.
The best way to manage your account is self service on the web and not through CC. Recharge online through your credit card at Mobile Prepaid, Broadband, Postpaid Mobile, DTH Services in India: airtel and then manage your top ups. Its that simple.
The downside is that they just have one HD (NGC) as opposed to a couple from rival operators. Well, if they dont go bust anytime soon I am hoping they will add more HD channels as a fast follower!

dump the dvr and changed it to HD (non dvr)
since i had only paid and it was yet to be installed, the change could be made.. the remaining amount has been added to my balance..
