Hathway goes HD in Bangalore??

Hathway packages are going to be expensive

MUMBAI: A month after Star Indias reference interconnect offer (RIO) deals came into effect in the DAS areas, multi system operator (MSO) Hathway Cable & Datacom has come out with its new pricing and packaging system.

Hathway has been conducting meetings with operators in various areas, the last ones being in Aurangabad, Pune and Pimpri. As per cable operators, who were a part of the meetings, Hathway has said that it will be empowering and training the operators to run the business of collection from subscribers.

Four new packs have been introduced. The first is the Basic Pack for Rs 230 that will, along with other channels, have seven Star channels. These are: Star Plus, Life OK, Star Gold, Movies OK, Channel V, NGC and Star Pravah, for Marathi regions and Star Jalsha in Bengal. This will depend on the stronghold of Hathway in the states.

The second pack is for Rs 289 and called Popular Pack. This will have, in addition to the above, a choice of one out of the two sports channels from Star Sports 1 or Star Sports 3. Both these channels show the same content in English and Hindi respectively.

The third pack will be for Rs 349 and will have Star Movies, Star World, Movies Action and FX while the last Premium Pack for Rs 419 will consist of an addition of its other niche channels such as Fox Crime, Nat Geo Music, Nat Geo Wild, Nat Geo People, Fox Life etc.

Regional channels such as Asianet, Asianet Suvarna and Star Vijay have been kept out of packs and will be available on a-la-carte while all of Stars channels will be available on a-la-carte as well.

Hathway will embark on a big marketing campaign to inform viewers about this and viewers can immediately switch over to new packs. For now, the MSO is not disconnecting signals to its subscribers.

I guess this now means that the channel packs which they came out with (Vajra etc) are out?

We have found it very hard to get any concrete information from our local guy and he too doesnt seem to be too bothered to inform us of the correct monthly amount.

We had paid for Vajra (~ Rs. 330 pm) for a few months at the start of 2014. Then after all the issues with Star, Zee etc we said that we would only pay upon receiving a clear break-up of the charges. After no contact for 4-5 months, we decided to go back to Rs. 250 pm and paid for the period of July 2014 to Mar 2015. We only paid because we continued to receive their service and didnt want to be indebted to a bunch of fools.

I'd like to know how others have handled payment for SD in the recent past and near future.

Hi,
right now I am using Hathway HD paying monthly Rs250 for cable guy and Rs 200 for Hathway(paid annually) that comes to Rs 450. But not getting Starsports HD 1 and 2

where as Videocon d2h offer for almost same channels including Starsports HD1 & HD2 cost arround Rs460 (New south Gold Sports Pack Rs 310 + HD access fee Rs 150 ).

Planning to shift to Videocon d2h any comments are greatly appreciated.

I am planning for Dish TV with Rs 240 all sports and Rs 200 HD plan. It includes all the HD channels barring HBO and Sony Pix.

Thanks Gopichand for your reply,

Any quality information about dish HD and Videocon HD?
anyhow Hathway HD will loose all its customer base in Bangalore.

I don't think much quality difference will be there on Dish TV and Videocon. I mostly watch Sports and HD channels only. So, was thinking about Dish TV.

They've silently removed Fox Traveller HD and Nat Geo People HD but Nat Geo Wild HD continues to function as usual. Anyone know why? They are grouped under the same set of channels - Fox International - so why discriminate? They should really get rid of CNBC HD and Baby TV HD.

My cable operator told that they have capacity for only 31 HD channels in Bangalore as of now. They added PIX HD and Epic HD and removed Fox Life HD and Nat Geo People HD. He also told that more HD channels will be added. When and which channels unknown at the moment.

They will also be launching HD recording box soon it seems.

They need to roll out a new firmware to enable USB for recording. They may never do it. Not sure though. Even if they do enable it, you can record only the channel that you are watching not any other channel.
