Nothing wrong in trying a new firmware. But keep a copy of your old firmware if you want to revert.
For date copying use a usb cable used to connect printer. USB2.0 cable is enough. But if your pc has usb 3.0 then use usb3.0 cable to get increased data transfer speed.

I am able to copy files by directly connecting via USB and also via network but i have to search the device through IP : \\xx.xx.xx.xx

Device is not reflecting under NETWORK / group of comps and am just going crazy to make it work, tried all settings static Ip etc....

also internet is working fine on himedia via wireless mode and same device is not reflecting in my belkin router - dhcp client list...

any clue here.....

update to this latest firmware, it addresses network + many more issues which himedia did not fixed so far, but read the instructions carefully and use safe mode only

Yesterday I was watching a movie and my media player himedia 600B suddenly stopped working.. It occurred once in past..I switched off it and try to restart it..
It started but did not boot and the logo of a player did not show on tv infact tv remained blank... When I start media player, it shows bright on light, if you press ok or any other buttons, all buttons light up as usual but no tv display...
I did not use it for prolonged hours...in fact yesterday I watched for just 10 min..
No power fluctuations at all in my area..
Any suggestions?

Thanks to this thread, I was able to learn a lot about Himedia models, I previously only knew of offerings from WD & Seagate. For some reason, I'm not able to Thank individual posts older than 2 months (Strange why this isn't allowed); some of the older posts on this thread have been very useful to me. Thank you all!

I've finally narrowed down to HiMedia HD600C. It's Out of stock right now but stocks are expected next week, and have placed my order on Detna today.

I have a question. Where I'm located, there are quite a few power disruptions and there's a few seconds lag between the mains power supply & DG backup. Whenever this happens, all my equipment resets. This was tolerable so far (with some cursing & swearing). With a media player, as I understand this situation could lead to HDD corruptions. I'm planning to buy a 600VA UPS to use with the media player. But UPSes typically require some minimum load to switch properly. Will the player be able to provide this minimum load, or will I have to add another device (TataSky STB?) on the UPS? Also, in absence of a UPS, is an external USB HDD more resilient than an internal HDD, or are they equally susceptible to corruption? Thoughts, Comments?

Use of ups is recommended. You can connect your tv also to the ups to handle the load problem although that may not be necessary with 'non intelligent' ups.

I bought a 900B about 10 days ago. After 3 days the remote control just dies. I figured it was faulty, and since I had to bring the hard drive (was included in my purchase) back to the dealer to get loaded with films, I wasn't too worried. At the shop, 7 days after purchase, we checked the remote and sure enough it didn't work, so I got a replacement. The next day I picked up the hard drive and have been using the unit for the last couple of days without any problem. However, today the remote just up and quit on me again. I have changed the batteries, but still nothing. I guess it is possible to have another faulty one, but I mean seriously 2 faulty remotes in less than a week???? Any body have any similar problems or any suggestions?

In my opinion, himedia remote control has good build quality. Ask for a replacement remote. You could also use a logitech harmony URC.

My key question is whether the HD900 can properly stream Blu-Ray ISO in 3D. I currently own a Dune HD Max which does not support this and I am looking for a replacement.

I don't have the player now. I'm writing down the following points from my memory. You may need to experiment a little. I assume you are using Win 7.

1. Under your player settings, enable SAMBA, BT client etc. Also give a name to your player like HD900B if it is blank. Then connect the laptop and player to the same network (home or work group) using wifi or wired connection. Now under 'Network' (computer > look on the left side) you will see a network media player named HD900B. Double click it to install. Again right click and select open homepage. This will launch the homepage of your player on your default browser. Here you can see a link (name I don't remember now) to view and ad torrents. First you should download the torrent file to your pc and open it from this torrent page. Another way is to note down the ip address of your player from it's settings. Type this ip address on the address bar of your browser.


2. After installing the media player, you can right click any media file in windows explorer and select the menu 'Play To' > HD900B. You can also use Windows Media Player and you will see the 'Play To' icon highlighted. Some times the the streaming may not work. In such case you will need to manually set some tweaks. I have discussed this in the beginning of this thread.

Tried doing all this with no success, installed hd900b on the computer but when i right click on it, it says - uninstall, create shortcut or properties, on clicking on properties, it opens another window in which at the place of Device Webpage, it says - " presentation webpage unavailable" , please help from here onwards ........

Reghu of detna has informed me that new stock of himedia 600a,b, c and a new model 600f is now available with him. Also available is 900B 3D media player. We have received fresh stock of 900B, 600C, 600F, 600A. I have sourced external blu-ray drive which works with 900b,600A,C,F.
