Hi ICE Gurus,

Finally decided to update ICE in my car (Emotion pk) after 2.5 years. Listening to music every day for minimum 2hrs with OEM ICE (would you believe it?)
Been to EVO last Saturday, and discussed with him my requirements.
He proposed me a configuration in 3 stages.

STAGE 1:
Diamond Audio D3 605 Component speakers 11500
MDF Rings X 2 200
Damping X 4 doors 1000
Overall wiring 200
Total 12900

Stage 2:
Diamond Audio D3 605 Component speakers 11500
Cerwin vega HED600.4 4 Channel Amplifier 9500
MDF Rings X 2 200
Damping X 4 doors 1000
Overall wiring for 4ch amp + Speakers 2200
Total 24400

Stage 2:
Diamond Audio D3 605 Component speakers 11500
Cerwin vega HED600.4 4 Channel Amplifier 9500
Diamond Audio D1 12 Subwoofer 6500
MDF Rings X 2 + MDF sub box 1600
Damping X 4 doors 1000
Overall wiring for 4ch amp + Speakers + Subwoo 2800
Total 32900

My taste, requirements & current understanding:
Dont want to change head unit
I listen to Bollywood, Kannada & minimal English (Not hard rock kind) music.
Love to listen any kind of music at its pure form.
Looking for clarity enhancement in the music (all instruments) through ICE updation.
Budget: Around 24K, flexible enough if found VFM.
Actually I was planning to first upgrade Front components & Rear Coaxial speakers with all 4 doors dampening, Drive for few kms and see if I am happy with the output keep the same or else go for next level Amplifier & Subwoofer.
I was planning to go for either one of the following component speakers for front: -
(Raibow, Polk or Focal)
And was not sure about the rest
But when I met Satya, he said that the given setup by him is proven one and he dont want to do any experiments with other setup. Though I asked him to consider Raibow, Polk or Focal speakers for front. I found that he is somewhat biased towards Diamond Audio speakers .
Question to Gurus here

1.What is your opinion on setup proposed by him?2.Is the quotation given by him is ok?3.On genuine front is Bill and warranty is enough to consider that the parts are genuine enough?4.Does EVO sell genuine audio systems? Please suggest if any other setup you are confident upon and also any other ICE genuine dealer and installer.
I will go ahead with proposed configuration by Satya (EVO) if you say OK for the same.

Hi.

All the best for your ICE update. I just have one observation through experience with owning a fiat punto 90hp.

The clarity & pure sound you are seeking in details of songs, will not be achieved until you change your HU.

My suggestion will be to first change the HU, listen to the changed sound for around a month, then go for a speaker upgrade. Instead of putting speakers in all four doors, only go for front components and possibly a sub woofer if your budget permits.

The source is acutely incapable in fiat punto to do any good to your investment in speakers.

Door damping is necessary. If possible go for the roof damping as well because it's bound to give out nasty vibrations once you put a capable subwoofer.

Tc.

Hi, Driving in my Fiat Linea emotion Pk for a year in the lousy Bangalore traffic and hearing the woeful speakers I was pushed into action a few months ago. Being a DIY fan I decided to take things into my hands and change only the front speakers to see the difference. For me decent highs and excellent midrange was important for the kind of music I hear. I took out the paper co-ax OE fitments (front door) and replaced with Blaupunkt separates with external crossover using a suitable MDF rings . I dampened the door using packing foam blocks and tweeked the placement of these to take care of the critical lower frequency vibrations . I am quite happy with the results. I took a risk of not changing the original OE tweeters and using the Blaupunkt tweeter to suppliment the high mids. I am quite happy with the result and am enjoying the music now. Since the rear door speakers are not changed perhaps the "big bass" is missing but there has been a remarkable improvement in the highs and mid range.

Hey,

Greenhorn, I've seen you before somewhere...don't know where, good to see you again!

Bcbiradar,

In my opinion, you can chuck the rear speakers since I believe you'd be driving the car yourself most of the time.

I've been driving the punto for last three years only with front components with absolutely no issues. After all, music is best heard in a 2.1 setup, right?

I think you should invest more in a better amp and front speakers. A change in stock HU is a must. You should look at the entry level rainbow speakers. I'm not familiar with the current pricing and all though.
