Is it time for another DIY workshop in Bangalore?

I have noted all the expressions of interest. I'll post an updated list tomorrow. (Tapatalk is not working for me after a version upgrade and am struggling typing on my mobile)

George & Santosh - I will be missing this event :( I am not sure anyone else from hyderabad is coming.

Will plan for a trip sometime soon and hopefully get to meet up with you.
Too bad you and Hyderabad FMs could not make. Next time!! :)

Santhosh,

Based on the capacity of Anutone location and number of people who have indicated their participation, you may want to check if we can accomodate any more or not.

Cheers.
Anil, I called Raghu@Anutone just now and he said the current numbers plus a few more should be fine.

I am interested in joining but how useful will this be for noobs in audio domain.
sg3707, We all start as noobs and pick up knowledge along the way. You are welcome to join and I am sure there will be some learning for everyone. But just to clarify, though this is an audio related meet, this is more specific to DIY (Do It Yourself). About whether you'll find it useful really depends on you :).

Our first attempt to cut a speaker hole. After we started we realized that the jigs that came with the Black and Decker router were useless for cutting circles. We had to made our own. It was time consuming but we (almost) got what we wanted.

More about it tomorrow when we meet.

The imperfections you see in the picture below is because of the quality of the plywood we used. The router cuts quite well when used with proper jigs.

The depth of the step came out 2mm less than what we wanted. Need more practice :)

A simple alternative is to use double layers. The main layer should cut for the speaker size and glue a 12mm ply \ mdf on top of the main layer for flush mounting. Basically 2 separate holes on main and flush ply and glue them together, it will have perfect fit and finish.
