I recently purchased an LG 55inch LM6700 and I noticed something really weird when watching 3D. I'm using a PS3 to play the discs. When the glasses are taken off, you see a double image (left and right eye images). Even if I pause the movie, the double image keeps fluctuating. What's happening is that the separation between them is increasing and decreasing randomly. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't. This is happening even when the movie is playing resulting in depth changes in the overall image. I'm wondering if my TV is defective. The parallax increases and decreases randomly. I thought maybe that's how most BDs are encoded but it's happening even when the picture is paused. It keeps on fluctuating.

Notice the parallax/image separation that keeps randomly increasing and decreasing. It's supposed to stay constant but it doesn't. Is my TV defective?
I'm using a PS3 to play the blu-ray. This is happening with every 3D Blu-ray where the image separation keeps changing, even when the movie is paused. (The movie in the video is the menu from The Avengers 3D.)

Buddy, switch off 3D

If you're under the assumption that I'm thinking my TV is defective because of the double image, then read my post again. I know that there is supposed to be a double image in 3D. But that image separation is supposed to stay constant. Instead, the image separation is randomly fluctuating.
I have a 3D projector and the image separation stays constant on the same menu.
This fluctuation is happening with all my 3D blu-rays.

I think the problem might be with PS3 and the Blu-ray disk which is not rendering properly and not the TV. Try to play with some other Blu-ray player. Did you download any content with half sbs image and tried playing that? Try that also and check how the 3D image is rendering.

I am not assuming anything. I am wondering why would you watch 3D without glasses on and worry? Hence my post to switch off 3D.

Do you see issues when wearing glasses? Try setting the 3D depth at 0 rather than going - or +. Same for all other 3D settings. I saw the same effect that you have written about on other LG passive sets.

Why don't you call LG? Don't be surprised if they ask were you wearing the 3D glasses.

@Srini

I know exactly wat you r telling thats y i didn't buy it.... if you to the sales guy he will tell you that the tv auto adjusting itself

but the fact i found is the source, the light and the distance,

in this passive tech the more you distance it looks fantastic

reg Source no problem with ps3 it is with the bluray

light you should need full dark in your room then you will not find it.

LG tech guys clarified that this is normal with LG Passive 3D TV's. Once you wear the 3D glasses you would not know the difference. This is not defective as per them. Strangely I do not have this problem (if you may call that) in my TV.

I think I fixed it. I set the 3D Depth to 10 in 3D settings and it stopped fluctuating. If I set to 0, it starts again. I left it at 10 now as that's the default value.
