Hi Gurus,

I want a system for music mainly (to begin with) and later may want to upgrade it to 5.1/7.1 for viewing movies.

These are what I am thinking
1. Onkyo tx-sr508 (26K) + polk TSI 200 front speakers, or onkyo SKS-528 (15k)
2. Denon 1311 (25K) + polk TSI 200
3. Onkyo S3300 HTIB (25K)

Don't want to go beyond 40k as of now.
Later will add a sub.
And then other speakers sometime in future.

Let me know your suggestions. Will finalize this weekend.

Hi, even I have similar requirements.
Why don't you consder the following too:
1. Denon 1311+Polk RM6750
2. Onkyo 508+Jamo S406+Jamo centre and Rear (Should be just above 40)

sr508 produces 160W / Ch, but polk 6750 channel speakers are 100W. The driver is also 1x.
I guess TSI 200 would be better speakers.

Where do you get Jamo in bangalore? what's the price?

Ofcourse TSI 200 is a better speaker. But 6750 gives you 5.1 package with a powered sub.

I will have to replace each component of 6750 in future.
Even the sub with 6750 won't be so good.

I am currently looking AVR + 2 speakers at 40 K or less.

one more question?
Have you decided on Denon 1311 Vs Onkyo sr508?

ProFX has denon and polk both , so they might give a discount.

Jamo S 406 HCS is a 5 speaker package. Ebay shows 20ks, should be lesser though. That includes towers too. Should be a good combo with Onkyo 508, read some reviews in amazon too...

Hmmm... looks like a good proposition.
Do we have specs somewhere of each component?

The other problem is that it is difficult to place towers and they occupy too much space.

1311 is same as 1611 except the auto calibration. And there is price difference of about 6k. What do you say? should I go for 1311?

Entirely your decision. If you are good with missing some extra features and it makes more value for your money, sure go ahead! However, I have neither read the specs of 1311 nor have I got demo of the same. Trust your eyes/ears and make a decision that suits you.

I suggest go for the 1st option. ONKYO receivers and POLK AUDIO speakers make an awesome combination. Speakers are not that great in Onkyo.

Go for auditions with different combos repeatedly.. Let your ears tell you which is the best....

Or try out my combi ....

You can replace wharf moviestar 70+ with either wharf 9.1 or 9.2 diamonds. The Pioneers are very very good for music.

I am leaning towards sr508 with polk TSi 200.

BTW, what would be the price range pioneer vsx-520 ? and where do you get them in Bangalore?

The next question is where do I get the best price in bangalore for sr508 and Polk TSI 200?

Modern World quoted 27 K for onkyo
Profx quoted 15K for polk TSI 200 pair.

What's the street price? how much I can bargain?

15% on mrp is the common bargain beyond that totally on your skills...

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
