Hi folks, I'm a newbie to this so please bare with me. I have just purchased the onkyo 609. Must admit I love the sound but am not sure if I could get better from it? my speakers are set up 7.1
Centre is q-acoustic 1000i
fronts is q-acoustic 1020
sub tannoy sfx
suround and backs are basic Gale bookshelf.

Should I be upgrading these to get the best out of my avr and get THX certified? or would a general upgrade in speakers be woth it?

Also with my speakers as they are would it be any use using THX modes? it seems to make the sound alot quieter.
Thanks folks look forward to reading your advice and sorry if this does not make any sense to you all:o

The q-acoustic 1020 is a decent place to start.....spend some time playing movies and listening to music (in stereo) and in a few weeks decide where you would need better components. Don't try to replace one 5.1 with another....maybe start with your fronts if you are into music....

thanks for the advice guys, I have recently upgraded my sub to Cambridge Audio minx 300 and centre speaker to the dali zensor vokal, must admit it has made a huge difference in my sound, going to think about fronts in the near future but right now Im very happy with it. I was thinking about the kef iQ10 or if the cheaper dali zensor1 would be ok enough?
Cheers guys.
