1TB Hard Disk
4 GB Ram DDR2
Processor (Best with latest Model)
Motherboard (Supports HD)
Cabinet

Also provide the Cost and if any body knows a good dealer in mumbai suggest me..

Hi,

I TB - seagate or western digital
mBD - go for gigabyte 33 series, it has opitical, co-axial and hdmi outputs.
Quadcore - 2.9 or above.
4 gb - Transcend

Cabinets - there are some HTPC cases available in the market, else go for large tower, powersource, gigabyte are also good.

All the above costs around 26K in chennai.

Hi,

here is my suggestion

HDD: WD Green if only for storing data (no O.S.)
MB: ASUS M4A78-HTPC/RC
CPU : AMD Phenom II X2 550 (enough for HTPC- dual core) \ AMD Phenom II X4 945 Processor (expensive- Quad core)
Memory: CORSAIR/OCZ/KINGSTON kit (2X2GB)

you can check with your local dealers. In Mumbai, should cost less compared to other cities.

Processor (Best with latest Model)
That would be i7 from Intel, but it won't be cheap and you will have to get DDR3 RAM with it.

One more thing, are you planning to use a 64bit OS? Because 32bit ones can only recognize around 3.25GB of RAM and that includes the memory for memory card.

AMD Phenom II X4 Model i forget costing me around 9000 Rs and ASUS Mother board HD Ready costing 4000 Rs..

What say Gigabyte or Asus...

AMD runs on Giga...

My Budget is for processor is around 10 to 14 K.

I don't think you need a very powerful processor for a HTPC setup. Look at sub 6k processors and spend on the GPU and sound card. Invest in a good PSU though. We often overlook that part! Proper HTPC cabinets are 8k + I think.

why do you say so?

cause these have spindle rate between 5400 to 7200 rpm. so not that fast that's why they cost less compared constant 7200rpm model. for OS you require higher RPM disk. so its good for storage not for OS as boot time and performance may not be optimum.

If you are building only HTPC setup then X4 is more than enough . If you are building HTPC + enthusiastic setup then go for intel i7 thats best what you get.

i would suggest ASUS for MB.

looks OK to me
Processor - OK (955)
MB- OK (M4A78HTPC)
RAM- OK
PSU - look for better one (suggestion coolermaster500W)

bargain to lower the prices.
hope this helps...:)

For HTPC as mentioned by shuv , Graphics card/sound card are important as well

Hey it's Ok only or best, I don't want to upgrade after this for next 4 years atleast ... Required Best from your side... Waiting... if any changes you think than informed me...

Not sure about rest of the things, but the RAM cost is on the higher side. Even though RAM prices have gone up recently, I believe for normal RAM it is still around 1.4-1.5k per 2 GB and for around 2.3-2.4k you can get DDR3 2GB stick!

Btw, for a HTPC build, do you really need a quad core processor? Wouldn't you be better off going for a dual core processor and a dedicated graphics card, which would actually help in movie playback?

he asked for the best model for processor, for AMD that is current best one.

I know, but isn't it more suited for a desktop than a HTPC, where you aren't going to be doing much multitasking and a dedicated graphic card for video decoding would be much more useful than a powerful processor with weak on board graphics?

you are right, there is not dispute in that. But he asked for the best processor so i have suggested that.

hope you got my point.
