I have a serious problem from my subwoofer.
there is a small humming noise from the subwooofer.when the volume turning up.its like 50hz sine wave tone.one of my friend said to connect a dvd player driver to left and right input.then the humming increased.he said it is due to malfuntion of the ac filter in the sub.please help roarr 210 users.

Most common cause for humming noise from a sub-woofer is improper earthing / grounding of the electrical circuit. I suggest you double check that the power outlet the sub is connected to is properly grounded before you decide that the problem is 'in' the sub. If possible, take the sub to a friend's house and see if the humming noise occurs there also.

Cheers.

How old is your sub George ??? Reasons for Hum :

1. Ground loop formation - Is your sub grounded well with a 3 point AC-in plug ?
2. If the above is eliminated and still you have a faint hum, the next culprits are the PS Caps. Normally tend to fail over long use.

Finally if the sub is old and is it worth to fix these ??? i would suggest to dispose it off and go for a new SUB. (One you could think of is Astonia SUB PS-2000 - 12.5k ) Excellent VFM and has a terrific response. Will post the review soon.
Astonia audio

cheers,
Vincent

The subwoofer is one year old.I have done all the above experiments mentioned here. And the subwoofer showed the same problem in all conditions.
I am also going to take a demo of astonia subwoofer. My dealer said its a very good sub.But he said sonodyne is a lil bit better than astonia.
@vin_eme I just read a review in avmax and they gave 5stars to it.
Please post your experience with the astonia and roar 210 and please post a comparison please.it will be very helpful to all members looking for a subwoofer under 20k.

If it is still under warranty, you can ask for a replacement....

This is their facebook page... Try addressing you query with the company directly..You may end up lucky...Or atleast, they will help you get that fixed...

George, blindly go for a replacement sub. Since your main worry is to get the SUB up and running without any HUM. So this is the best option.

I did own a Sonodyne Roar -II ( 6 yrs old). Had similar problem of HUM and thats the reason i told you to go for a replacement.

Coming to comparison, Astonia blows away my Sonodyne ROAR-II Sub in all aspects, (Power 200w rms, punch, clean, Tight bass, Design, manufacturing ...) . I infact dissected the sub and i can clearly state that the quality of electronics used(Toroid, separate wood enclosure for electronics within the SUB), damping is all done like an imported SUB. I will post my reviews shortly in a separate thread.

I can easily get astonia sub and can sell my 210 because my neighbour is interested in my 210.but I doubt how the sound of astonia comparing with 210.
Also my dealer said the build quality of the astonia sub is bad compared to 210.
@vine-me please make a comparison review with 210 and astonia.

@ vin_eme

Could you please tell us - how did you get your Astonia SW shipped to Bangalore?

Was it shipped by seller? How much you paid for SW and shipment?

Thanks in advance.

It costs Rs 12,500/-, unfortunately they are currently out of stock. Here is the email response from Astonia reg my query on the sub:
Dear Teja,

Thanks for the compliment. The cost is inclusive of all the taxes and shipping is free. You can certainly return the product if you don't like it.

We are currently out of stock and are making new ones. Will update you the details when those are available.

George, dealer will always try to pull down the competitive product. Offcourse you can't expect international standards. But I have dissected both sonodyn and astonia, I can clearly vouch astonia for decent quality compared to sonodyn
