Checked with another dealer today and he is ready to give WD TV for 6.3k+12.5% tax if there is a bulk deal of 5 people or more. It's on cash purchase and he'll charge 2% extra for credit card. Another thing is that he'll take one day to get the players. So he wants 50% payment on confirmation and 50% after delivery next day. Seems to be the best price available currently in Bangy. Anyone game? Or anybody have found any better deal please let me know as I'm planning for one. I've posted this in another forum too.

The person is offering you a very high price and then the terms of payment are not fair by any standard.

Hey 6.3k with taxes is damn good price. I tried to find in few places in Bangalore but this seems to be the best offer I got. Where you;ve got yours? So it also carries the standard warranty, right?
PS: you mumbai guys are really lucky in terms of pricing in any audio/video gadget :-( Recently when I inquired about Mission speakers, the difference was almost 7k and it's insane.

Not always,IT products are cheap here,but hifi products(spk,amp,cdp)are cheap in south.
Sure, they are....hence we are not comparing them on price part.
You see you can use ps3 as a media center. Just attach an ext HDD and you are good to go. PS3 also plays music, movies, images etc in HD. Wat say???

Hey point is WD TV far outperforms its price . PS3 is 3-5 times expensive so it does all ,I am it should be the LEAST expectation right?:licklips:
And no wonder PS3 decodes HD audio - SONY is charging extra for it
In fact aroud WDTVs price point only Xstreamer comes - no other gadget was launched at same price point or below.Neither Segate nor Iomega have all the features of WD TV

I want to compare them on media center capabilities ONLY. Period.
I would request ps3 owners to step and impart some know ledge in this case.

Sumit, does PS3 supports NTFS formatted drives? If not then how will you watch high definition movies which are normally bigger than 4GB? Just curious.

PS3 via a vis Wd TV is a user call. Even though you cannot play MkV's directly you can always convert them to Mp4 which does not take long . So if media playing was my sole criteria disregarding budget I would have selected PS3 as it also has Blu Ray additional.
I have no idea w.r.t. your queries. That is why I wanted to discuss this here and would ps3 owners to step up and answer these queries.
I have nothing against WD tv. It is a great piece of equipment and perhaps I shall buy it very soon. It is just that I am curious with the ps3 comparison as with Ps3 you get a BD player, a gaming console, NMT....

A question that I have been asking myself for sometime myself. I think it would be an acceptable replacement. The extra cost - put it down to the awesome gaming potential.
Absolutely Vortex....Imagine gaming in FULL HD and surround sound, blue ray movies, media center....all in one device!!!!
Most of the games for the PS3 are not full HD.. they're 720p or lower. Native 1080p games are few and far between.
