Thanks for the info. Although, it does not take much away from PS3 when one compares it with WD tV!

HAHA!!! Nice one.

yaar, I have already ordered WD Tv from US. It is so cheap, you can't go wrong with it.

Why I am rooting for PS3 is because it is actually a universal device.
I would have bought a PS3 long time ago if region locking issue was not there. Thing is, there aren't many BD titles available in India. I would want source them online from US. For that I need a PS3 from US. I have no means for that at present. Also, I will not be able to view DVD's from India in american PS3, which I am willing to forego and would leave it to my DVDp. You can't have all, can you? :indifferent14:

Cheers!

SONY making universal device!!!!:clapping::clapping::clapping::clapping:

No Way!
It does not suppot flac where flac is available on net!
Same about MKV ( Ok I know you can by some modifications!)
I dunno about what is format of ripped BD with HD audio - but want to know whether sony support it?
And for some compatabality you require third party hacks!!

Even this "universal" device is not region free and i think software region hacking is not very easy and with limitations!! ( EXPERT PLEASE COMMENT!)

When world was going for mp3 sony promoted ATRAC taht too very high DRM and lost market to ipod!

Sony makes excellant cameras -only catch you have to use memory stick which can be used only in sony gadgets and expensive.BTW sony is also moving towards SD!

Unfortunatly PS3 ,being the BEST console is not at all SALES LEADER and LOSS MAKER for sony!( wii is no1 & X box No 2!)

It is great comapnay ,i worked for it's distributors but slowly it is loosing market due to high headedness!

What i mean is :

is it feasible to:

connect RCA interconnects from 2ch out of WDTV to Amp

connect HDMI to AVR...

so by default, where will the output go..

My AVR does not support HDMI decoding , guess cannot help you here :( !

But I am pretty sure it will send audio to both the sources . You can check the same by attaching both to your avr and just switching sources !

You can use these 2 simultaneous outputs. I suppose you want to play MP3/ WAV etc via 2 CH output.

Does your AVR process HDMI audio? Do remember that HDMI on WDTV does not support HD audio. So you can simply connect it via optical as well.

MP3 but also FLAC.. for 2CH..

yes, the avr has most of the codecs.

Are you guys sure WD TV can read the ISO file.. with all the DVD menus, chapters etc in it?

Just got one. It plays almost all my files...something I cant say for my PS3. BTW got this one for my 2nd house in Pune before someone thinks I'm nuts to have both a PS3 and WDTV. Use my PS3 in Mumbai. Thanks to all you guys for bringing this device to my notice.

I too have a PS3 but am shifting to WD TV..

planning to sell off my PS3. It is neither a good storage-based media player nor a dedicated dvdp/bdp. It is jack of all trades , master of none.

But why would you do that ! The PS3 provides unmatched gaming experience. Why dont u just buy a WD TV in addition ? Currently I am holding myself back from buying a PS3 is the fact that invested a lot of money in buying the Dell XPS gaming laptop and would want to enjoy it for atleast 3 more years !

1) CDP
